  1. They have a forum for food and drink discussions. Anyone remember the classic LRE recipe for fox cub?
  2. Nice one Mark Though we need to be considerate to land rover chronicles as it clearly covers a different space to LRA but definately room for them to compliment each other. And Les Not sure Moglite would agree
  3. Well given his post has been read over 100 times its about time someone gave him a useful response. Hope the moderator thanks you. Though looking at some of the posts Dweb might be a better home for many of them.
  4. Don't think so. Plenty of WD40, slacken the lock nut off and unwind the adjuster a turn or two and check/repeat. Retighten locknut. Note even if it all seems clear when stationary you can still get rubbing when manouvering. I've just kept winding the adjusters out half a turn and running the truck for a few days between each adjustment. Now fine, just polishing the radius arms. I'm running 35x10.5 on 7x16s 4.25 backspacing IIRC. Did manage to bloody my nose when the spanner slipped and hit myself in the face with my clentched fist though
  5. you could but it doesn't seem to get much use and while the web site looks very slick those weekly digests look rather out of date. Stick with us Of course we could send in headhunter to see if he could get another forum shut down
  6. and nice to see you've found us too. Good to be reminded there are other 4x4s and we don't want to become all bigotted. Thinking of which were's our friendly rambler?
  7. you may find a non cylindrical guide such as the gon2far type will be quieter. Not being bell like and also less inclined to fill up with muck.
  8. Well we have a new home now, thanks guys, so we are fortunate it's no loss to us. LRE though? Well I used to buy the mag out of loyalty to the forum but I won't be doing that anymore. LRE RIP
  9. yep, got one of them to fit too some time.
  10. hmm, remindes me. Must take mine apart sometime, before it gets too cold, and wash the mud out of the matrix. That should help.
  11. I was with our photovoltaic group today and they have records going back many years. This seems to support the theory that airborne particulate polution which is now being effectively reduced has been further masking the global warming impact. So the problem may actually be bigger than initially thought. The other interresting feature noted is that the periods of low radiation have become longer are now maybe twice as long as they used to be in the 50's.
  12. Two bits of bar bolted together or a couple of jubilee clips should do it. Downside of using cones on the axles is they will fill up with mud/stones/sh!te any or all of which can be irritating. Regarding unsprung weight that's not a big issue for low speed off roading. In fact quite the opposite if you take a look at the rock buggies. Keeping the spring attached to the axle would help to generate more downforce/traction when disloated that having it dangling from the vehicle. Anyone running water in their tyres?
  13. I think in fairness to Chrssyboy he gave some good advise on this on the old forum. I used his suggestion and blew a mix of waxoil and whitespirit (IIRC) over the 90 but I think there was mention of using a waxoil/duck oil mix to get under any moisture. Maybe someone should invite him to the new meeting place?
  14. Nige, good luck but check out RedIbex's site for pics inc secondary springs. He may even have just that sort of thing kicking round the garage from his earlier attempts.
  15. I think the current wisdom is to stick with retained springs
  16. Wow there's some steel in that. It this another alternative to k l e e n t e c t , just build it with lots of sacrificial steel
  17. We're just rootin' for you Andy Those fox air shocks look neat. Just need to couple them up so you can adjust pressures from the cab.
  18. Is this with: Nige full tank of fuel (enough for at least 40mins off roading) 50gallons or whatever of winch fluid (any less and it will boil) Case of WD40 Delux (read heavier) kittygripper Std (read previous model) kittygripper Hmm, then there is the cage,.. Tony, are your sure your poll goes high enough?
  19. Earth problem? Run a lead form battery negative terminal to a winch mounting bolt and try again.
  20. Nice one Todd Here's mine having a paddle
  21. Kieth, sorry to hear that, tough luck. I always rather liked my 2.5 Petrol. Very quiet and more drivable than the NA diesels.
  22. The longer/softer the sping the less roll resistance the truck will have. Fine for playing on the ramp but can get pretty buttock clenching on a side slope. I notice some of the tube buggies now have small winches fitted so they can compress the suspension to give better control. Air suspension like SimonR's is probably the best way forward for full flexibility and control.
