  1. This particular Land Rover Experience driver was Ed Cobley.
  2. It sound like what happened to mine when the UJ went. Would get underneath and try and shake tham about a bit. If it is as bad as it sounds it will be obvious which one it is. As above remove it before it fails. You can drive around with only one whilst you get it fixed by putting the diff lock in. Better than risking a failure.
  3. Left foot braking does work and if you go to one of the land rover experience days it is a method they teach for non traction control vehicles.
  4. Thanks for the replys. Cheers
  5. I want a GPS system for my 110 that I intend to use for expeditions eventually. Ideally I want one that I can remove from the car with a large ish display and that will do off road as well. Any suggestions? I thought about one of these but it is a little bit ott for just a GPS system. http://www.panasonic.com/business/Toughboo...d-computers.asp Anyone have any experience with them
  6. Also worth checking the ECU connections for oil. There is one on the front of the engine that is particulaly prone to getting oil in it. It happened on mine and caused a similiar problem.
  7. I believe and i'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong that it is illegal to fit devices that restrict braking on road vehicles. There is a security device on the market that is designed to lock off the brakes but has to be fitted to the clutch in this country due this restriction. As above left foot braking is cheapest option.
  8. Another vote for the bushes being the problem.
  9. Mine has a little bit of play in it too. If it is only slight I wouldn't worry about, there is a certain amout of backlash in the system anyway even from new.
  10. My TD5 had a similar problem which I believe is common on TD5's. There is a valve in the injector that is an integral part of part of the housing. It is a standard part from land rover and costs about £40 I seem to remember.
  11. 100 M10 nyloc from screwfix £3.40 + £5 P&P = £8.40 100 M10 nyloc from my local supplier back in sheffield (not so local any more ) £2 for cash Was a great little place. Just wondered if there is anywhere similar round here. At the moment I am fetching bags of nuts and bolts home with me if I go to visit my parents who still live there.
  12. Haven't tried it but someone also told me that if you have a battery that won't charge put in the freezer for a couple of hours first. Any thoughts on this?
  13. Me too if you don't mind another tagging along
  14. Does anyone in the Salisbury area know where there is a cheap supplier of nuts and bolts. I am fairly new to the area and beyond B&Q, Focus and screwfix I cannot find a supplier of the basics (nut, bolts, rivets, general fabrication stuff). All those mentioned are far too expensive and usually don't have exactly what is required. Cheers,
  15. Would removing the cat not increase emmissions and therfore cause an MoT failure?
  16. defender: + Its a landrover - Its a landrover freelander: - Its a freelander Seriously, freelanders are ok for what they are designed for, snow grass etc mainly for road use. I got one as a courtesy car and was impressed with how it handled and fuel economy but I took it off road on my daily run around my parents farm and it got trashed. If you plan to go off roading beyond gentle green lanes or need to tow anything substantial get the defender. If you need the fuel economy and long range comfort buy a discovery
  17. Do you mean back lash ie can turn the propshaft freely or as above can move the propshaft perpendicular to its length?
  18. Thats pretty much confirmed what I was thinking. It has not yet had a 'full service' I have done various bits while doing the engine swap. Will change the fuel filter and have a look at the lift pump and see how it goes. Cheers
  19. I have an early 110 to which I fitted a 200TDi. The problem is that it starts to lose power at higher speeds. There is just nothing left at above 40mph. My initial thoughts on this are it is either poor fuel flow, turbo problems (although the turbo seems to be fine at lower speeds) or back pressure from the exhaust. Has anyone experienced this/have any suggestions? Cheers
  20. My mate had a similar problem with his TD5 he never really solved it but all he did was check all the connections and it suddenly started working again
