  1. I have a fairly new (about 2 years old) compressor which gets used fairly infrequently but its suddenly started blowing the safety release valve before it gets to the cut off pressure which is causing the compressor to run constantly. Has anyone else experienced this? I've had a quick look but there doesn't seem to be anything obvious that can be adjusted. I don't want to just start messing about with something like a compressor. Cheers, Rich
  2. It's easier to buy a new steering box! I've tried everything to get the one off my old steering box from 10 ton presses to bearing pullers rated up to 50000lb and it still wouldn't budge. Why do you need to remove it? I wanted to because I had a disco steering box and drop arm. In the end I just got a steering arm off a disco and converted it to accept a defender steering damper because it was easier than swaping the drop arms. Interestingly the disco drop arm came off easily, it was just the defender on that wouldn't shift.
  3. It is the fuel contamination warning. So yes, the water sensor in the filter. There has to be a fair amount of water in there for this to come on. When it did on mine it was because I had filled up with 50l of water due to Sainsbury's not checking their tanks properly. Take the filter off. You will need to replace it now anyway. I suggest you don't drive it until you have. I would also check the contents of your tank to see it there is water in there. Rich
  4. I have a 1988 110. Will a set of soft top/hood sticks from a series 3 fit it? Cheers, Rich
  5. Ok, cheers for that. Rich
  6. My dad needs a new wheel for his series 1 but all his local stockists haven't got them in stock. Does anyone know any where near Sheffield that might stock them? Also, am I right in thinking that wheels off any series landy will fit? Cheers, Rich
  7. un-coiled wire coat hangar does the same job as sparky push rods
  8. Just repair the paintwork. Landies are supposed to have a few dents.
  9. Why not have a centre seat cubby box? There was one in LRO recently that had done this by having a small cubby box built into the base of the centre seat. I'm going to try something similar on mine when it's upand running again.
  10. I love 30 min jobs. Like removing a propshaft. It's only 8 bolts, how difficult could it be After 4 hours (by which time it was dark and I was working outside) gently chiselling the rusted solid nuts off I couldn't be bothered fitting the new bearing kit so drove it around in rear wheel drive mode for a couple of days.
  11. Both myself and my dad had pretty much identical TD5 90's only mine had BFG AT's and his has Grabbers. It's full of clay round where I used to do most of my off roading but I never had a problem in mine. A few times when I borrowed my dads for whatever reason I always had more hassle because the clay seemed to clog the tread more easily on his. I can't comment on wear, his is on the first set still and tows the 3 ton trailer mentioned above but it's only done about 50k and I can't say I've noticed how worn they are.
  12. What size you after? I'd go for BFG AT's everytime. Last set I had lasted 96000 miles 45000 ish of that was towing a 3 ton trailer. Would say they were better than the General grabbers fitted to my dads 90 off road too. Rich
  13. Sounds to me like you may have a short somewhere on the left hand circuit. Try a continuity test to each bulb on the left hand side.
  14. The year when I took those pictures of the drifts higher than the bonnet we had some drifts that engulfed an entire bus. When the road was cleared enough to enable them to recover it they towed it out and it left a nearly perfect tunnel where the snow had drifted around the bus and then frozen.
  15. Finnaly here is that cicuit diagram that I drew. Would have posted it sooner but usually only on here at work and my work firewall doesn't let me post pictures or even use the smileys for some reason Hope it helps I would suggest there is a fault on the permenant live. If everything works when you run a new line to this are you sure you are not attaching it to the Ignition live on the haz switch by mistake?
  16. Yeah, I've been following that thread. My plan though is to use the viscous fan cowl and incorporate the electric fan into it but singe the electric fan I have (off an M3 BMW) has quite a chunky cowl itself I want to make sure there is enough clearance. I'm aware of the debate surrounding distance from rad to fan but since the existing cowl has been designed fro that radiator set up I figure using it for the elctric fan should be the most efficient set up. I may be wrong but we shall see.
  17. I've got quite a few seemingly obvious questions but since my landy is in Sheffield and I am not I can't just go out and look . So I was wondering if any of you gents (or ladies if there arew any on here?) might be able to answer them. Here goes.............. Whats the distance between the back of the radiator and the front of the viscous fan on a 200tdi? I am building an electric fan mount using the old fan cowling and need to know the clearance before I glue/bolt it together. What's the height of the rear wheel arches from the load bay floor? I need to know for an idead I have for fitting some boot seats. Does anyone have a pic of what the engine bay end of the fuel tank to engine bay fuel pipe connectors look like? Thats it for now but I'm sure there will be more until I get it back home. Thanks in advance, Rich
  18. Here's some from on the penines a couple of years ago. Sorry for the rubbish quality: Yes that snow drift is higher than the bonnet: Here are the after pics: That was a fun night. Hope my landy is ready in time for the snow and that we get more like this.
  19. I promised my wife mine would be on the road within a couple of weeks That was 2 years ago
  20. I wish I did but it was before I had a camera phone.
  21. If your mates are anything like mine I'd be reminding them about walking when it snows. The last time one of them took the p!ss out of my landy I winched their car betweeen two ballards.
  22. I do enjoy that pastime. They hate it when you overtake them!
