  1. Top day, cheers to Neil et al for all their hard work My arms are stinging like hell from blackthorns and my legs have just about lost the ability to function...... Some hard hard punches......!
  2. Looks like the dates set and the interest is there, count me in for it braving a tent in edale! Give me a holler if y'all need a hand sorting out any logistics etc, as i've got some time to donate at the moment plus access to the wayfinder project. Just need two days of laning routes finalising with a start GR and time......
  3. Possibly slightly offtopic.... but here goes...! If I megasquirted my v8, would I need to megajolt it as well to wreek more of the benefits of the systems available? Also am I right in thinking that the megajolt element manages the spark and would effectively enable the motor to be run (reasonably) fully submerged as is will be in a challenge motor? Therefore also out of interest.... how was mouse made to run fully submerged?
  4. I've already been cross-bred with an orangutan, just gotta work on filing the teeth now.....
  5. Ok point taken, I'm gonna start training for next years event by climbing tree's! lol
  6. Whats the ruling on using chainsaws on the Tay.........!
  7. Its just that the X-arm instructions refer to them (offset bushes) and when I got my X-arms Si only sent me the standard bushes....?
  8. Do you need to use caster corrected bushes with the X-arms? or normally one?
  9. Schweet truck! Reminds me, need to go polish mine now......
  10. Yarp! Cheers fella, its a 300tdi, should have known, doh! Also can be recognized by the position of the turbo and dipstick position!
  11. I presume that 300tdi engines are numbered in the same place as the 200tdi's, but what number series are these engines....? Also main numptee question - how do you tell the difference between a 200tdi and the 300tdi engines?
  12. Its all a matter of choice really, but yea all starts from a 110 rear tub. There was a rare 100 inch CSW hybrid on ebay a short while back as well with small rear doors that was interesting.....! After owning two hybrids, i'm not a fan of them anymore and run 90's, so no more issues with the DVLA.....
  13. James, Yarp! I'm good for that, just give me a holler. Mike aka winch beatch extraudinaire!
  14. EMORC are holding a public playday at Stainby (Grantham, Lincolnshire way), just wondered if anyone was going from here? Not been to Stainby before, but have seen the piccies of it Scorpions (yuk ) website from the challenge events last year, so wanted to turn up and test my articulation.....
  15. Slight topic hijac here.....! I'm based between Nottingham and Mansfield, and besides the weekend playdays (stainby, tixover, sibbertoft, biggin, kirton, etc) then I'm not using my truck enough so I'm like to get out midweek, I'm in GLASS but just need some like minded buddies in the area to hook up with and head out. Would go to the desert but don't fancy getting a section 59 slapped on me and me landy crushed Any suggestions? I've never been greenlaning round here, and supposedly the peak is very good for it so anyone around to show me? Mike
  16. I've just had the same problem with my front diff in my challenge truck, but mainly caused by a f@£ked propshaft UJ (note to self use grease gun more ) Spoke to Steve at Crown Diffs, and was quoted £150 plus VAT for a secondhand diff, and £200 plus VAT for a reconditioned unit, was gonna grab one off him, but he's on holiday for a couple of weeks now! I ended up sourcing a 24 spline unit myself, and getting my local landrover independant specialist to fit it - tonks 4x4. Given the magnitude of the job and the amount of tools you need I wouldn't spersonnally attempt to rebuild the diff to install new bearings. Also chances are if its the pinion drive shaft berings that have collapsed then the pinion shaft may well have sustained some damage? What the oil like, metallic? If you need help in sourcing a unit, try these guys out ....... skan4x4 a really helpful guy and will deliver next day for 20 squid. Hope this helps.
  17. Well done guys! Awesome truck and one hell of a build / inspiration to us all monsieur welding stig! Gutted I didn't get to see mouse in the flesh at billing as we hit the beer tent and never made it accross to you guys after that! Also stoked at the video from 2007 ladoga of petal - here she is! Also loving the p*^^ & winding up of the estonians....... good lads! So what mods have you got planned for the Vepsskii Les? and where are petal and pig now..... ?
  18. Just a quickie, what landrover vehicles have 24spline diffs? I'm led to believe that my 90 is on 24 spline, and after busting a front diff at KORC this weekend I'm in the market for a replacement..... and wondered which landy's had the 24 spline versions out of the factory? and also do all the military ones have 24 spline diffs? Thanks in advance!
  19. I'm in Nottingham, been tearing up derby road with my V8 hybrid for a while now..... Hopefully off to either KORK and/pr Tixover this wkend with my truck but getting a nlittle bored of playdays..... Anyone up for some greenlaning?
  20. bump.... ouch...! Also available for international events......
  21. Hi, I've got a 200tdi disco engine in my 90, any tips on where I can find the engine number as the insurers are asking for it....!?
  22. Hi, I've got a 1989 90 with a very very poorly 200tdi in it, as its leaking from the crankshaft main and out of the flywheel housing, looking over the repair costs and given the number of miles on the engine, then I'm thinking down the lines of a transplant/upgrade as opposed to a repair. So I'm looking, and have been offered a defender Td5 unit complete, and was wondering how much hell it would be to fit it? My truck is a challenge truck so the ecu would have to be raised and protected, but any thoughts / comments are welcomed! Has anyone on here done one of these before....? Thanks in advance, Mike
  23. Does anyone need a co-driver for any rounds of the Howlen' Wolf Challenge? I'm available for all five remaining rounds, and am willing to put in the extra time prior to events with the driver to ensure a strong relationship. I'm 29, fit, strong, can climb trees and and bathe in mud all day, based in Nottingham but will travel nationwide I'm also available for the Tay Forest Challenge if anyones offering a seat......? Thanks, Mike 07766074237
