  1. My preference would be to save your money an get some Gwyn Lewis challenge spring mounts clicky ere You will have to unfortunately have to buy a couple of new rear shocks (as these mounts use the front shock/pin mount), but still cheaper than the D44 swivals (at £225/pair) and a simpler better engineered solution to the problem of eating bushes. One of the guys I co drive for uses these on his challenge truck, and they are very very good An added bonus is that you also only need to carry one spare shock, as they will all be the same!
  2. What are you using for the acuators on the lockers? air or mechanical (cable)? Also are you keeping it on the original brakes (hydropneaumatic?) or were you thinking of converting it onto discs?
  3. A lot of the choice comes down to what your using the vehicle for, roughly whats your split of off road to road mileage / usage? My personnal choice would be to go for the Fedima Trial Ade's if you can get them..... clicky ere Not sure what the supply situation is with Fedima tyres but they are awesome (in a bogger pattern type of way!)!!
  4. The guy I normally co drive for isnt entering round eight of the Howling Wolf at Slindon so if anyone needs a co-driver then by all means give us a shout! Cheers, Mike 07792 744067
  5. Apologies if this is slightly off topic, but which Landcruiser models had lockers in the front and rear axles?
  6. It took me and hour and a half last week to hand scrub all the mud from my clothes after Howling Wolf at Tong!!!!!!! and thats not to mention putting them through the washer and also cleaning me off after bathing in it all day!!!!! Oh well, advantages of being the bitch is that you dont have to clean the vehicle!!!!
  7. Why not a compromise then..... GMC 6.2 v8 diesel ! sounds like an aston, and run on logs! Bags of torque, kills your wallet just as much, but a bit on the heavy side..... ? ?
  8. Why not a compromise then..... GMC 6.2 v8 diesel ! sounds like an aston, and run on logs! Bags of torgue, kills your wallet just as much but a bit on the heavy side..... ? ?
  9. Did Landrover ever do rangerover soft dash 300tdi auto's??????? they all seem to be manuals, and without leather! Mind you, guess a log burning rangy is viewed as the poverty model!
  10. Any more on event mud-porn pictures.......
  11. Awesome day! Thanks to the organisers and the marshalls! That was my first time at Tong, as was always going to go there on a P&P day, but from the co-drivers seat it was a great day and didnt manage to break anything more than a mirror, oh and bruise the drivers door.......
  12. Hi, Wasn't Scrapirons Snail End Challenge on this weekend.......? Just quick look over their website..... and there's no mention of it at all, so looks like they've canceled their one and only challenge event of the year Been told it was 'invite only' so maybe no one wanted to party with them lol! Wasnt gonna enter as now sold my truck, and co-driving at Tong this weekend!
  13. Hi, What are the 'ultimate prices' for the one winch setup and the two winch set up? Does this include a student discount lr4x4 cash sale discount?
  14. Any one got a soft dash v8 LPG for sale......?
  15. I'm a muppet and up for some navigating = a house trained winch gibbon fuelled by bananas and relentles..... PM sent
  16. The trend to 100" plus trucks tends to be as people seek more and more suspension articulation, and therefore in order to run lengthened radius and trailling arms (like jim @ gigglepin / Chris Able) you need the additional wheelbase to install the arms/chassis mounts. Also the other reason seems to be people wanting to compete in speed events where the extra wheelbase is more stable - think devon 4x4's morroccan challenge 110" trayback , and allisports tomcat, but also the gigglepin trucks, chirs able's and alan kemp's new builds. Also the badboy project is another good example of stretched wheelbase-age! I'm gonna stick an 8274 on the front of a Vogue LSE - luxury and power! not sure where to store the ground anchor though, maybe next to the sub woofer and the picnic tables in the boot!
  17. Company was Stanton 4x4 - linky here , nice guy running it but t-erd of a conversion!!!!
  18. Right, I'm contemplating Range Rover ownership once again..... I've had a few in the past - white bobtail pickup 3.5 v8 blue bobtail hardtop 3.5 v8 1972 series bodied hybrid 3.5 v8 oh and the one thats put me off ever owning another...... 1995 P38 4.6 HSE, but the engine burgler of Bristol stole the engine and put a Mitsubishi 2.8l diesel 4M40 engine in it, result.... smokey gutless, and couldn't be read/diagnosed on testbook, as the engine ECU wasn't there!!! Doh! But after a couple of defenders which were 200tdi and 300tdi........... I'm thinking of a return...... So... now I'm going classic.....! Thinking bout one of the last ones so thats 1994 / 1995 right??? Also engine choice seems to be 3.9 EFI (any others....? )which i'd be looking for a gas converted one (eco friendly.....) but would this be a single or multipoint conversion???? In terms of engine choice, would the diesels produced that year of RRC be fitted with a 300tdi or were they still on 200tdi (thinking discovery facelift timescale....)? Now model choice... whats the options???? Is it Vogue / Vogue SE / Vogue LSE then the Autobiography / Brooklands and limited editions?? Lastly, were all the soft dash models produced with air suspension, coils? or a mixture, I know the air suspension can be converted onto coils but would prefer a late soft dash on coils (after owning a P38 with airbags like whoopie cushions!) Hhhhmmmm, lots of thinking and head scratching to be done then.......
  19. How did Petal fare in the forest......!?
  20. I snapped the eye through on my hybrid a while back, seems a common problem with them! Was told to only buy pro comp from foundry 4x4 as they specify the eye to be made of thicker gauge metal, not sue if its true or not!
  21. Why does everyone seem to rubbish simca portals! are they really that stupidly heavy and numb? ???? 6cyltdi ? did you get them strapped under your landy in the end??? how are you getting on with them? How many others have fitted them or are in the process of.....?
  22. Well done guys! Can't wait to see the photo's of what hell really looks like.......!
  23. 6cyltdi - whats your plan for the 404 then, you going to keep it complete or is it just for the axles? What became of using the simca portals as I've been looking at a similar project recently.......?
