  1. A rrc pump will do up to 1000 psi, a p38's pump will about 1500 psi. These are what i've tested myself. Any hydraulic fitting will be fine G
  2. If you don't fancy keeping the axles, it'll be worth taking the diffs & shafts out. They'll be 10 spline, but still, a number of people still use them and need spares. G
  3. Nige just curious, is it possible to run MS with 2 seperate exhausts ? 2 lambdas ? Saleys LS runs like this iirc (i realise this isn't an ms ecu). G
  4. I thought i tried an m12 in it without joy....ah well, must of been cos it was late Thanks. 3 diffs to build tomorrow
  5. Evening, I've just been assembling an ashcroft 4.11 pinion in my diff.... but realised that i'm missing the bolt which holds the drive flange on. Can anyone tell me what thread & length they are so i can nip into town tomorrow ? I realise i could order one from ashcroft, but for 75p they won't be going broke and I'll have my diffs back together tomorrow http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=314 Cheers Gordon
  6. Cool... I need to stock up on stub shafts, broke 2 on my last outing And that was only testing not challenging ! G
  7. Nige, surely the back axle will have the shocks facing opposite ways being that age ?
  8. Steve - do you honestly find the td5 a lot better than your v8 ?
  9. Thats what i've done so far, just googled and then emailed. And like you say, i've asked for any UK port as this isn't a problem for me. G
  10. I'm perfectly safe....my account is normally empty
  11. Morning, Not entirely LR related, but i know a number of you have shipped vehicle to RSA. I have to export a couple cars to most probably Namibia (cheaper than RSA when they arrive). But am not sure who to get quotes from. Can anyone recommend some shipping agents ? Cheers Gordon
  12. Tested a couple vehicles today, with a closed output - just the gauge : P38 4.6 v8 zf pump - 1,500psi RRC 3.9 v8, with the cylinder style pump - 800-900psi So i'll fit a p38's pump tomorrow
  13. Fair enough, i've only got the ends which i've put unions onto so i can join onto my own pipes. This union i've made works fine A pity the pump doesn't lol.... G
  14. Cheers. The zf74 has an m16x1.5 thread output from what i can see. This is the same as the rrc pump i fiddled with quickly last night. Dan, i don't have a dirty td5 so can't check G p.s. Just noticed, the title i wrote in the box hasn't all been displayed - it's cut the last few letters off.
  15. As per title, I've got a challenge next weekend and my zf74 is pretty much kaput ! I'm getting about 500psi out of it (testing it against it's pressure relief valve). So....will a p38's v8 pump be the same or more than a RRC v8's ? Reading rave the p38 seems to go up to about 1500ish but the rrc to about 1100. Cheers G
  16. I've had an issue with the high pressure pipe going into my steering box, basically the bottom of the LR metal pipe broke off, meaning the lower O ring was no use. So being in a bit of a rush i've decided to make one up (well, it's an excuse to have a tinker on the lathe ! ) First attempt (had an issue with the ID of the internal hole being too much and so the O ring groove couldn't be deep enough - oops) Second attempt, but yet to be tested. I know if fits tight though. Anyone else had this problem on a disco 2 ? G
  17. Well i won another tds yesterday... ...so that's 2 for less than a total of £200.
  18. Nige, are my pics here any use ? http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=68879 G
  19. Cheers Si, i'll have a look at the winch when i'm home. Do you still need that rubber ? G
  20. Evening, I've gone an bought a tds winch without a drum...i know i know....but it was ebay and easy LOL Just curious if anybody would care to explain to me how the gearing attaches to it ? So i can think about whats involved in making one myself. Any pictures would be great Cheers G
  21. Not off the idea....i'm still reading this thread with interest, but working away doesn't help.
