Morning,
At the last LRS challenge i stripped a R+P (standard landrover 3.54).
The diff centre did not appear to be damaged.
I had to go trialing the next weekend, so i thought i'd quickly rebuild the diff with a new R+P...but....when i bolted the crownwheel on the diff pretty much locked up. My first thought was that i'd trapped something in the sun/plantry gears - but i hadn't.
It basically turned out that the flange cap was bent (# 020406), and as i was tightening the crownwheel bolts it was "squeezing" all the gears together.
This is an RD56.
I rebuilt the diff using parts from another spare ARB and went playing for the day.
Can anyone advise a quick easy fix ? D4x4 don't have the part in stock (12 week delay) and it's £75.
Could a p38 4 pin diff be stripped and made to fit with some fettling in the lathe ?
I'll be redoing my diffs when i get home as i've now got a pair of pegged housings and 4.11 r+p .
Cheers
Gordon
