  1. Thought to suggest the same until I read "We do not make 88" coil chassis, Range Rover or Discovery yet. " Three lines up from the bottom of their home page.
  2. I do consider myself pretty competent with IT, PCs and the like but as I say the one thing that has stumped me is file and printer sharing over a wireless network. I defeated the difficulties with printer sharing by just buying a Lexmark wireless printer. as to file sharing still stumped......
  3. Wireless file sharing is the one thing that has defeated me using XP and Vista. I now just email files to my self using google mail account or save to a USB memory stick. Not quite sure why Mr. Gates made it so complicated but he sure did....
  4. I should have added - very nice wheels though....
  5. Hi Carl, in the absence of a response to the PM I sent you I've posted the info. I sent here,......sorry you haven't had the chance or opportunity to reply.. Hi Carl, I have a Nikon D40 (not the D40x) and I am very happy with it. Only 6 mp (the D40x is 10mp) but 6mp is more than enough, particularly if you are only going to need pics for your web site. I have had a previous bad experience with a digital SLR that involved getting dust on the sensor (this occurred after a trip to Paris involving a lot of lens swapping exposing the camera interior to dust.) Having decide a couple of years later to go back to a Dslr I decided I needed a 'one size fits all lens' - thus negating the need to keep changing lenses and exposing the interior to dust. The D40, the D40x and the D60 need a 'special' lens with a Hypersonic Motor (designated HSM). You can get genuine Nikon ones but they are way too expensive, after a bit of chew I sourced an alternative here: http://www.bristolcameras.co.uk/p-sigma-le...5-6-3-dc-os.htm It cost the same as the camera at £280 but well worth it, I now have a lens totally suitable for 99% of the shots I take, as for the other 1% I don't bother, the down side is that the lens weighs way more then the body and as a result upsets the balance when it is hung around your neck... feels great in your hand though. Only one last thing to add - if the pictures are for your web site (and this has been said before) why not just a good quality, compact point and shoot, you'll go a long way to beat a digital Ixus from Canon. Hope all this helps,
  6. Is that like.... outside mate..... You do have a PM though...
  7. Carl, 'desperately updating' I'm afraid doesn't describe it ;) I have a Nikon D40, but I'm afraid as good as it is it (and it's brill with a Sigma 50-200 mm hsm lens - PM me for info if you need it) it couldn't resurrect that site.......
  8. Walfy, I'm only new here so perhaps don't have the right to say this but I really think the old on/off topic thing has run it's day... at least for now, and it doesn't need to keep 'polluting' other posts.
  9. Are you sure about that?? 2 cars = 2 insurances, 2 MOT's, 2 road taxes plus the cost of buying the additional vehicle, is the difference in MPG really that great, reckon a 200tdi should do around 25-30 mpg, a 1.2 Corsa 35-40 mpg, I haven't done the sums but if you are going to buy an additional vehicle I certainly would. Plus ... think about your cred :o - mind you the Corsa is a great car innit....... ;)
  10. As ever brilliant entertainment... but yes it probably played right into the hands of the anti's. particularly when Jezza charged down the hedges. :o Interesting how capable that little Terrios was though (assuming the absence of any 'staging' which one can never be sure about with TG)
  11. Just got a call before going to work - puller is on front seat and wheel is still on vehicle!!! - obviously slipped off under tension overnight, and as pointed out above clearly not the correct tool for the job. I've pointed him to the one on eBay as a tenner is really next to nowt these days. Many thanks for the help guys.
  12. What's the definition of 'unattended' - how far away do you have to be to have left the vehicle un-attended.....
  13. What kind of puller are you using? Looks a bit like this http://www.machinemart.co.uk/images/librar...4/040210247.jpg I am going to try and leave it pulling 'under tension' overnight/tomorrow and see what happens. In no hurry to get the wheel off.
  14. Got stuck with a friend/colleagues defender (2002 td5) - wanting to swap the steering wheel for an after market one but for the life of us we can't get the original wheel off - I'd swear it has been welded on!!! Using a puller just won't budge it Any ideas folks.....
  15. It also beggars belief that somebody would do so may of those things - not satisfied that if it did get going after cleaning out the fuel lines of the sugar it then becomes un-stoppable due to having no brakes. And how would anyone see that as counting as winning - they plainly wouldn't have done to their own mind given what they would have done to get there - discraceful
  16. /newbie chips in again but risks being accused of sucking up to teacher/ I think if we take this thread right back to where it came from and re read one of Les' original posts, "When the percentage of off-topic threads gets too high, then they will be removed or locked. One or two of these are worse than others, but to avoid complaints about individualism - they will be locked. These threads have had a fair run, so I'm being reasonable I think. This type of off-topic subject has been posted several times before and still people dilute the content. You can moan all you like, but they will be gone shortly." We can debate the subsequent response (and you did) but I don't think any of this was about not allowing OT posts (including his own) - but it was (IMHO) about capping them when the proportion gets too high......on reflection seems reasonable to me. /newbie steps back and buts out/
  17. /Newbie steps into Lions den/ So why not have a poll??? Would it not be (given the strength of feeling expressed by some members with much more experience than me) really that hard to have an OT section for those that wanted to use/read it??? - if they voted for it. /Newbie retreats/
  18. I got totally engrossed in this post on PH this morning and was nearly late for work!! Very sobering stuff indeed and a reminder of how lives can change dramtically or even end as the result of a split second decision or error of judgement
  19. I usually book our crossings through, http://www.ferrysavers.com/ Normally quite competitive. Woops sorry edited to say I've just realised your question was about tunnel prices not Ferries.
  20. This (might!) help - http://www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/leaflets/..._and_prefix.pdf It id quite confusing though, I agree
  21. Cheers, That'll be S reg up to Feb 1999 then. Many thanks.
  22. Could somebody please confirm the definitive change over date for the Defender from 300tdi to td5 ie what is the newest/latest 300tdi available (I'm talking UK market BTW) - done a search but couldn't pick this up so apologies if it's been covered before Many thanks.
  23. I wonder how much of this is expectations verses actuality... By that I mean LR, Merc, Bmw are 'class' marques, and purcheres expectations are real high however when a light bulb fails they condem their car to the bottom of the reliabilty stakes..... compare that with.... The Skoda owner who's engine seizes and gearbox falls out who thinks, well what can I expect, it's only a Skoda...
  24. I appreciate that explanation - I've been reading all this stuff about MS too but missed out on the first part. Many thanks.
