DC_
Ok guys, I'm finally losing it here ? Should I be fitting inner and outer hub seals? I've just scrolled through the forum and many other pages on tinternet. Some say inner and outer, some say inner only and spacer with locking nuts on outer....... The mate has just sent me this..... miketomcat
What year axle/defender and front or rear. As none of mine have outer seals. I thought outer seals were a drum brake and early range rover thing. Mike
DC_
1986, 110 front axle.... i don't think a front seal is needed. Is this correct?

Retroanaconda
All hubs have an inner (inboard) seal, which runs on the step of the stub axle. Some vehicles, though not many, also have an outer seal which runs on a special spacer which sits between the hub nut and the outer bearing race. You'll know if you have them as you'll have this ~1/2" thick spacer jobby in place rather than the usual ~1/8" thick thrust washer.
Bowie69
They even show that setup in the late RRC manual, needless to say it is very wrong...

bushwhacker
I had an early D1 200 that had the two seal set up, but apparently they are fine with just the one.

Early disco 1 axles were range rover axles. There imperial axles not metric ones. Mike
