LR90
OK, bit new for me but friend is looking to put recovery points on the back of his defender TD5. Best I understand jate rings won't fit and nato hitch is out as it is fitted with an adjustable tow hitch for the boat. So what's the options/recommendations? Orange
Do they not still have the 4 bolt holes in the rear crossmember that you could fit a NATO or a loop (like Mo Murphy's) to??

Might do but I don't think this is accessible as there is a drop plate fitted for the adjustable hitch
western
NATO hitch on a additional slider plate, that's what I've done & don't see why JATE rings won't fit as the chassis [iIRC]is the same as anyother 110. if JATE's are to loose across the chassis rail width use the standard tiedown plates as spacers or mod the existing adjustable units bracing arms. LR90
Cheers Ralph. If I understand it correctly he can't remove the current bolts/tie downs to fit the jate rings as the tank prevents the bolts from being withdrawn. Not seen the 90 yet (well other than pics). Nato hitch on an alternative slider sounds good. He has seen some swivels recovery eyes but not knowing what they are or how they are fitted I'm cautious but will post up any links that come my way. You can buy it from LRS Off-road and is made by Equipe. Also I understand Discoparts have swivel recovery eyes that go through the jack holes in the rear crossmember. This gives you more pull adjustment on a recovery by allowing a pull on either side. Cheers Steve

I swapped the bracing bars over & modded them to fit around the tank, my rear jate rings then use the bracing bar as a spacer. bit to dark for pics now but I'll take a couple tomorrow & add them here. CrewCab
Got to agree the bolts seem to be in the wrong way round. I put Jate rings on my TD5 110 for a while before fitting a QD towbar Sounds like an angle grinder and new bolts could be the way forward Dave
BogMonster
Do they not still have the 4 bolt holes in the rear crossmember that you could fit a NATO or a loop (like Mo Murphy's) to?? They do but bear in mind the back crossmember is made of bacofoil or might as well be. There is a thread on here somewhere with pics of mine after my boat trailer eye jammed slightly when reversing
