uninformed
Hey all, early 110 up to probably 93, part number FRC3988 - thick Late 110 probably 93 onwards, part number 571752 - thin paper Was there differences in the hub to drive flange PCD? I have early hubs but prefer the later thiner gasket.
landroversforever
There was a difference in some of them... The telling difference being the imperial drive flange bolts on one. However I've only ever seen a normal paper gasket for each type? Nothing 'thick'?
landroversforever
Thinking about it... not sure if they defender ever got imperial drive flange bolts...
western
there are both types of gasket, fit doesn't make any difference to the drive member fit. So next best thing is thinest is best. If they are the same PCD (I know both early and late 110 are M10 bolts for drive flange to hub) then I will use the thinner later type. Snagger
By thick and thin gaskets, I think they are referring to specifications for gaskets for thick or thing hubs/drive flanges, not the thickness of the gaskets themselves. I haven’t noticed any significant variation in OeM gaskets since the SIII, the thick gaskets seeming to be the poorer quality pattern parts ( and leakier as they compress with age and allow slack in the joint). RTV sealant works fine, anyway.
western
No the gaskets can be a card type material or brown paper type, the card one is noticeably thicker than the paper one.
Snagger
I understand that Ralph, but aren’t the thick ones generally pattern, not genuine? Thick gaskets are generally only useful for uneven mating surfaces.
western
Some are pattern, I've used both types in the past without any leakage or problems.
hurbie
i have "thick" ones from a local landrover dealer (with a hefty price tage) , so not all are patern parts
