Gazzar
Probably both. And some gussets.
Gazzar
And, I've to fit a fourth leg, so they can do duty as singletons.
landroversforever
I seeeee. In that case maybe a doubler welded on round the hole.
Gazzar
Yes, that's what I think. I'll make it strong tomorrow. Or this week. Or sometime.

Might hide the rough welding a bit, too. Dare I say it those welds don't look hot enough
Gazzar
Dare away, there was a gap between the box and the thread, so I built up with weld. It's the weakest part of the structure, but as the pressure/ strength requirement is compression I think it's okay. Doing it again, I'd make the step bigger, though. Ed Poore
I agree it doesn't matter but I'd turn it up a wee bit on the next bit of welding and see how you get on. 1
Mossberg
I like the look of these,I think you have done a good job. I was looking to make something similar using just box section and pins, but the prop looks a good idea One of the things that I considered was making the base from a defender disk brake and making a plate with the same PCD welded to the prop (from 10mm steel) so that I could remove the base for storage. I ended up using my existing axle stands so didn't end up doing them, but my thoughts were the surface area of the disk would actually stop them digging in. What will be the minimum and maximum height of these?
Gazzar
Thanks! I'll measure them tonight. They were "designed" by placing under the chassis and building around that, so no measurements. I bought new props, but I'm sure they can be picked up cheaper, avoid galvanised, for obvious reasons.

Great for aluminium and Stainless, but might be a tad more expensive than argoshield heavy, which you could use for general welding of low carbon steels regards Stephen
Gazzar
It's empty. It's the SGS equivalent to BOC Argoshield. CO2 with a bit of argon. Eldest will get some tomorrow.
Gazzar
A little bit each evening adds up. I hope. Hopefully, work permitting, I'll stick all the final bits together tomorrow. Then back to the 101.
Gazzar
Done. Far from my best welding. In fact, I'm not doing a great job at it at the moment, but it's strong, so it will do.
