FridgeFreezer
I was surprised that the BBC managed to contain their rabid hatred of 4x4's and just refer to "Gas guzzlers" in this story, then I noticed the photo used to illustrate it - surely as stock photos go that one is picked to give a certain message? Parking hike for high polluters Are freebies that high up the scale of pollution?
Br00n1e
Is that no their car park
Les Henson
Announced on the news this morning - large polluting cars will now pay £300 instead of the usual £100. I'd like to know how they think that a particular car pollutes 3-times more than another in order to justify treble the cost of parking it. Les. Guest diesel_jim
And surely whilst it's parked, it's not giving out ANY emmisions?
GBMUD
That is an interesting point Jim. My bruv, RogueVogue to you, has a Discovery and his wife a Passat. They live in an area where there is an on-street parking scheme in operation for part of the day and, since Nick is at work for most of this period he does not have a permit for the Disco and just uses a voucher if needed. Now, assuming that both cars were parked "on street", both needed a permit and the Disco was charged at 3 times due to being a "gas guzzler", which car do you imagine would get parked and which one driven to avoid the punitive parking charge? Do we not have a right under EU law to be treated equally to our fellow man? Chris
Orgasmic Farmer
Didn't you know all men are considered equal, just some are more equal than other.... it all depends which party is in power!
Br00n1e
surely the mileage covered in a year counts on how much emissions and emitted?
will_warne
All this is is annother stealth tax under the pretext of being good for the enviroment. As being green is so in vogue at the moment they'll get little opposition too!
Br00n1e
its discrimination though
pugwash
what's that got to do with anything? the labour love discriminating- usually against anyone who isn't the lowest common denominator!
ROGUE TROOPER
On another BBC subject, I noticed that the BBC are now advertising a Radio1 CD on SKY One!!
Orange
I bet they haven't reduced the lower rate for the less polluting cars!! That would be too much of an incentive, now, wouldn't it!!!!!
