Unfortunately for you all, my Christmas gift this year is not going to be such a gift for those interested on this thread. I have been given the opportunity to take ownership of my uncles 1993, 200tdi defender 110, which he has owned for 20 years. I grew up going drives in it, mud plugging in it and repairing it. It's the vehicle that got me obsessed with the green oval. The plan was for me to aquire this vehicle much later in life (as he puts it, once he's crocked it 😂) but he is getting on in years and has COPD so he can't fix it himself anymore and could do without big garage bills coming off his pension. He decided he didn't want to watch it rot on his drive from now till he pops it, so my Christmas gift this year was that the landy was mines if I wanted it (a decade earlier than expected!) I can't pass up this opportunity and unfortunately, I don't have room for 2 landys at the moment... so this project will unfortunately be getting shelved! If I had the time and space (and a wife that couldn't see) I would have the 2 landys but that's not the case. So thanks for all your advice, support and interest but this build (for now at least) isn't going to happen. But I am over the moon with my Christmas present this year so every cloud and all that.. The new member of the fleet does need some work though! Starting with a new gearbox! So I will likely be on here documenting it anyway 😁. Cheers! He kept the body deliberately tatty to stop it getting nicked and I always moaned about it so he is already expecting big things from that front haha With regards to us mud plugging, I threw out that idea and was told that he had no intention of throwing it about in anger off road again and even less intenion on being a passenger while i do so. He had enough of trying to teach me to off road in my early (and late) teens. He says if i've not got the hang of it now, theres no hope 😂. He does however enjoy a bit of towing and said if I'm ever doing any big tow job, he'd be happy to accompany me and even take the wheel if the opportunity arose so I will need to find reasons to tow the odd thing haha. But i do plan on taking my own wee one mud plugging like he did me! So memories to be made yet! I hate to tell him he's right... but he's right. Good bunch of people and I'm quite looking forward to sticking about. June / July ish there used to be one September / October ish, however that did not happen last year due to ground damage, no guarantees it will happen next year either.. Stinkfloyd Posted March 22 Author Share Posted March 22 (edited) Evening all, Given that the series 2 is now away to a new home (and being lovingly restored as we speak!) I have now taken delivery of my defender and thought I'd share some photos on here.. unfortunately the forum doesn't like the size of the images on my phone. So here is the only photo I can get to fit the requirements 😁 I will start a new thread for the defender as there will be plenty happening to it but a slightly different route to what I had planned for the series!!
