Def88
Hi All, Purchased my 1988 Land Rover 90 a couple of months ago. Done quite a bit of work to it so far, but a lot to do. I’m just wondering about this Carbon fibre bonnet?! It came with the car but it provides absolutely no sound proofing, doesn’t quite fit and rattles like anything! Would anyone know what this kind of bonnet is worth? And what bonnet would fit the standard 1988 Land Rover 90 and where is best to try and purchase one? Junglie
I'll swap it for my standard bonnet if you like. I'm fitting a V8 so the lack of soundproofing is less of a concern I guess...
landroversforever
The standard bonnet doesn't exactly provide any soundproofing on it's own!
landroversforever
Any branding on the bonnet? That might give a clue to it's worth. Also, on the rattling front.... has it got the bushes in the hinges? I've seen a few where they've been missing.
Bowie69
You sure it's not just a wrap?
ThreePointFive
Are you sure it's carbon fibre? I'd expect it's fibreglass, there was a company doing them as an alternative to Puma bonnets a while ago.
landroversforever
There are some genuine carbon ones out there, but I can’t remember the name of the company.
Def88
Initially I thought there is no chance it’s real, but recently got the car fully serviced. One of the guys was a classic car restorer and is certain that it’s actually real. I’m just going for more of that classic look, so was on the hunt for an original bonnet with Land Rover decals. FridgeFreezer
If you hop on the ShireLRC facebook page we're local to you (Hampshire based), someone's bound to be willing to do a swap for a swanky thing like that!
