foxescross
Hi, i have LR90 CSW 1987, looking to change gear box, transfer box and front/rear diff oil. No workshop manual and links I’ve tried for it doesn’t work. Can someone advise please? TIA
hurbie
biggest advice would be to buy a original Landrover workshop manual for your car's age and engine .
FridgeFreezer
1st thing is identify which gearbox you have, at that age it could be a couple of different boxes even if no-one's changed it over the years which often happens. The rest will need EP90 gear oil - I buy it in bulk from Smith & Allen. You need the workshop manual for details but the basic version is everything has a drain plug and a filler/level plug, you drain the old oil out and then refill until it runs out of the level plug hole and up your sleeve. soutie
Diff's are EP90. As per FridgeFreezer, identify which gearbox you have so the forum can help. For filling the gearbox and diffs I used a lidl 5lt weed sprayer filled with the oil. You pump up to pressurise it and fill them in one go instead using those small 500ml bottles which dribble everywhere.

uninformed
For front and rear Rover type diffs and the LT230 transfer case I use Castrol Syntrax 75-90w . Most of the world (sans the UK) has moved on from EP90…

Popular Post TSD
Small but important hint for the uninitiated - always make sure you can get the filler plug out before you take the drain plug out. A mistake you'll only make once 3
