landmannnn
A close (Italian) friend of my dad is planning an extended photographic expedition in Kenya. He says he wants 5 defender tdi's, preferably in white and has asked for chassis cabs. Being italian he needs to look in the UK for rhd vehicles. He would then need to move them to Italy where he would fit them out then ship/drive them to Kenya. He says he wants 90's or 110's. He is the MD of his own company and often goes off for months at a time so is not short of smarts! (or money) My thoughts are: Chassis cabs must be thin on the ground so he would be better going for pick-ups and throwing away the back bodies. The 5 vehicles should all be the same spec for parts interchangeablility. 300tdi 110's would be the best vehicle. The colour could be easily changed so white should not be a priority. Ex mod would be a good start. There are several advertisers in LRO etc who could supply multiple vehicles, do they sell decent vehicles or just stuff the squadies have wrecked? Are there any companies who specialise in ex fleet vehicles? SHB4X4 used to run then sell white defenders - do they still exist? Any thoughts? Top90
Foleys are very helpful for that kind of thing. Have access to an amount of stock I believe and do a lot of preperation work for serious expeditions.

RocKeR
Interesting, 88. I didn't know that you could buy Wolves yet... I've asked what the 90 is going for. 11 years old, but barely run in.
Orange
SHB4x4 is still an active company....... A few of the major construction companies down here are still using them, anyway!
FridgeFreezer
BT Fleet sell Defenders but all ours are hardtop, shame because they have a reasonably easy life (certainly compared to ex-MOD ones they do!) could be worth looking for other companies that run them. I'm sure there's plenty of Land Rover dealers who would be able to supply you five vehicles that hit your spec even if there's a few years and a coat of paint difference between them that would be easily rectified if you only have the truck cab to splash some paint over. headhunter
try www.marpleroadgarage.co.uktel: 0161 480 0343 ask for Tim. this is run by a friend of mine and he gets 300tdi pickups which could be modified. He has also sold to Europe and Africa. Tim (as above) also gets his hands on ex BT management 110's in white which have low mileage 5 seats with a secure rear compartment. Apparently each BT area manager has to have one available in case of crisis, so they can access the scene/location. They don't tend to be used by the engineers.
