Ibex94
Am rebuilding my front axle and need to retorque the swivel retaining bolts. I am therefore looking for a 14mm bihex crow foot wrench. Have looked all over but cannot find a bihex foot. Anyone out there in L/R help with this? If no joy then a spanner will need modifying. simonr
I don't quite understand why you need a crows-foot wrench? I've done this before but don't own any crows foot wrenches? Si
Les Henson
I just do them up mental tight. If you modify something in order to use a torque wrench, then there's a possibility that you may negate the scale on the wrench and therefore tighten the bolts incorrectly. Les. AndyEvans
and for that reason there are some maths to do. or a handy online calcultor http://www.norbar.com/Calculators/TorqueWr...70/Default.aspx
white90
B tight as Les says has always done mine no harm
stewy1984
9/16 ring spanner and a hammer, never done mine any harm.
Turbocharger
I think I bent my ring spanner doing mine up with a piece of tube over it, and there was Locktite in there too. I haven't had any problems, but that's not necessarily a recommendation...
treebloke
Is there any difference between 14mm and 9/16", does one fit slightly better than the other?. I have always used 9/16" which just seems to fit the better of the two.
clbarclay
My experiance is standard spanners tend to be about the right length that without any additional leverage they will tighten a bolt up to about the right torque. I've not needed more than a standard combination spanner on them and only double up spanners for undoing them. Try tightening up a bolt the same size with a torque wrench and then try tightening it up some more with just a spanner to get an idea how much force/leaverage is required.
