MetalMagus
Can anyone tell me what dimensions I need to look for in a bottle jack please for a Defender 90. I have seen one on Land Rover parts but the genuine part is £100 There are some Sealy jacks in the Just off base website for £18 but I not sure of the sizes or what capacity I need. I'll try not to post more than 2 newbie questions a day. Honest. Sean
western
look on ebay or in the LR mags for a Discovery or RR bottle jack, these are the same as the bottle jack that comes with the hi cap pick up 110's. a minimum of 2 tonne rating is best

reb78
Disco Jacks on ebay as Ralph suggests. Got mine for about £25. The great thing about them over other bottle jacks is that they come with a curved top that engages safely on the axle. Brealers might be even cheaper. hobson
We have a long Hi-Lift and a small bottle jack, Ralph is right, at least 2 tonne. i'd get one from a recognised shop (machine mart etc) as you can take it back if it goes wrong, they all have at least a years warranty, and you should get a good deal on one this time of year... Godlykepower
If your getting a bottle jack, your going to need a 2 stage jack. As has been said already, get a genuine parts one second hand from somewhere like a Land Rover autojumble, or a local LR garage. I picked up a couple from my garage for the grand total of nowt. If you end up getting a Hi-Lift jack, please remember they are as deadly as they are useful, and exercise a lot of caution when using it. Bowie69
£7.50+VAT for a P38 jack *SET* (i.e. two handles, chocks etc) from a local breaker, you just can't go wrong with that if you ask me -oh and get two, definitely.
