oap
I would like to know how much work or money it would take to fit a P.T.O to a standard td5 110 hard top, only to drive a timber spliter? It may be more than buying a small tractor any ideas?
western
the hard part is finding a good serviceable PTO unit & associated controls.
SiWhite
Agreed with Ralph - very hard and expensive to find a hydro PTO for the LT77. I gave up and bought a mechanical PTO, and made a spacer / adaptor plate so a hydraulic pump bolted on. It retained the dog clutch from the mechanical unit. Nice project to do if you've for a lathe and mill.
Anderzander
I bought an ex utilities H14 winch, bumper, hydraulic pto, spool valves, morse lever, tank, extra hydraulics take off etc etc for £400 ... I have seen them on ebay since too. Sometimes the Defender Centre in stourbridge have them for sale. They sell ex utilities 110's and sometimes remove the winch set ups. Only draw back with fitting the above to a td5 is you need to relocate the ECU to mount the tank there. Not a massive job but a bit fiddly. Here's a link to the defender centre:
landmannnn
I would get a stand-alone pump, starting at £300ish it is probably the cheapest option. My link

Si, do you mean the LT230? the LT77 isn't fitted to a TD5 (R380), the drive comes out back of tranfer case blanking? Pete

FridgeFreezer
Usually one or two PTO's on eBay, just make sure you get a Defender one not a Series one. Depending on the flow required, bolting an extra pump to the engine could be another way. We've done it plenty with hydraulic winches.
