Retroanaconda
Finally got the truck ready with the power steering fixed and the axle swapped, so I'll definitely now be there tomorrow, save something blowing up on the way (quite likely...) Retroanaconda
Good day! Lake was a bit deep, a good five feet in places (saw a chap in a 'dry' suit go down to his neck). Some took the plunge: Resulting in: Needed the engine draining, but it ran again Nige had an 'oops' moment: Front axle locked solid and several hundred horsepower was more than the front prop could handle: All-in-all, a jolly good day
jcwcooper
Wow that's the 2nd broken prop I've seen today! Doda456 prop snapped on the way home about 5 mins after leaving! Had a good day out even though the other half stole the landy for 30mins and I had to walk Dave.
doda456
It was a lovely day out, the sand was quite interesting in places. and yes my prop did go ping shortly after leaving, they do make a hell of a bang when they strike the underside of the floor, I will hopefully post some pics up in the next few days

Hybrid_From_Hell
Nige had an 'oops' moment: Front axle locked solid and several hundred horsepower was more than the front prop could handle: All-in-all, a jolly good day Thats one way of putting it - a huge explosion front the front end saw the axle jammed absolutely solid, and the prop destroyed as I had power on Removed KAM Fusable stubs, and KAM Aerospace shafts, all looked ok, removed remainder of the propshaft(s) and that left an empty axle casing with just the diff Diff still absolutely solid - shoved the outer bits of the casing abck on, wheels & drove home in 2 wd So, today will see whats gone, place your bets on a KAM 4.75 Pegged CWP or the ARB ? My money at the mo is on the ARB, which is a shame cos if thats the case I can't scream "Warranty" Ho Hum Nige
landroversforever
I guess ARB would want to know about a breakage if it is that...
Retroanaconda
If the CWP is as strong as you said it is Nige, then my money is also on the ARB. Internal cage collapse or something of the like
landroversforever
Nige have you got the plastic cage or metal one?

Hybrid_From_Hell
OK For the Vultures amongst you For some seriously werid reason I had developed a crack(s) 2 x at 10 to 2 looking at the casing from the rear, possibly when the loud pedal was pressed this cracked flexed and let in water and debris, its odd as the diff etc was out less than 4 weeks ago and all was fine, couldn't see the crack unless you look carefully Crack let oil out and water in Rear pinion bearing completely collapsed, this then spat out the needle roller cage, which was chewed via the cwp, and then the rollers fell into the CWP, fair do's to the KAM 4.75, it had actually crushed and cracked some of these, but, eventually enough rollers locked up the CWP and the "BANG" occurred my stamping the loud pedal to clear whatever wound the prop vs BHP and jammed solid CWP to destroy the front prop, this then added to the nosies with a nice loud knocking as the broken prop flayald about making enough noise for me to go Oooooer This in turn sent shock waves into the rest of the axle, the brass collars on the CVs exploded, as did the bushes on the half shafts, the drive flange bolts are bent, and the threads wrecked in some holes The CWP had just a few chips on it but will be replaced, the ARB Steve reckons will be ok with a strip and clean (the things I do for him ) and a rebuild, pics as found, inc debris dirt and oil and water I have found a new casing, also I am replacing swivels and Housings as they show damage as well, skip is full at mates house whjo has one as builders in The water must have got in a week(s) or so ago, not "On the day" prob just more on the day and its final abuse Damage I x Front prop - needs welding back up : Hey ho, now the front axle to Build up Nige

milliejasper1111
Does that dip in the water explain why it wasnt running too well? I have a video clip of it charging (coughing) around I will try and stick it on later Ian
