Mack
What's the part number on the packet ? If it ends in a G it's considered to be "genuine" or OEM. yes, all numbers end with a G. I guess I´ll live with that. No chance to send them back.
reb78
It was on here, in the last couple of weeks, someone reported seeing a ***tpart lorry delivering to a LR stealership Wish I could find the thread now... Lars L
Genuine is Genuine IMHO. And should come in a Land Rover Genuine package. Other stuff with "G" ending the part No is not Genuine, it's OEM. And one can only hope that it's the same part as the one that's offered in a Land Rover box. Sometimes I doubt it...
nicksmelly
Main dealers are franchises. They are not owned by Land Rover, They can choose to buy parts from other suppliers. Maybe that particular dealer had a customer base that required cheaper parts than Genuine Land Rover. I'll eat my hat if Land Rover (the company - not a franchised dealer) buy parts from Britpart. Aragorn
If it said OEM on the packet you should be fine I buaght lots of parts to rebuild my front axle only recently, some genuine and some "OEM". The big swivel ball seals came in Britpart packets with OEM on the label. Comparing the seal to one of the stub axle seals which were genuine landrover, the manufacturer name on the seal was the same (I forget what i was now, something like CMD), and the seal looked identical (other than being a lot smaller )

Correct! LR do not buy anything "knowingly" from Britpart but LR' suppliers might And I say might!
reb78
Just stumbled across this: http://forum.landrovernet.com/showthread.php/194735-Britpart-have-your-say-ask-your-questions Thought it may be of interest to this thread and all similar to it that ask questions about britpart quality. Yes that's true, there is a big difference between a Land Rover Dealer buying Britpart and Land Rovers Parts Division buying Britpart and putting it in a Land Rover box. There are quite a few Dealers out there offering alternative parts but unfortunatley some of them don't what probelms they could be letting themselves in for, but soon will !! There's a big difference between offering quality branded product e.g. Ferodo Brake pads & Britpart filters for example. It's ok offering alternatives but quality is key & particularly if you are a Land Rover Franchised dealer.
