landroversforever
That will be why they are all hideous prices then . NFU are the National Farmers Union. You need to be over 25 OR have a close family member with a policy. Mate had his 2.5d SIII with them when he passed his test and it was about £300 TPFT. Rich_P
Or £1,800 in my case with them for a standard 2A. That's why I didn't go with them in the end and went with Footman James who were less than half that price. The drawback of course is with specialists like Footman James, you don't build any NCD. That's because Footman James put young drivers on a special "over 15 years old - classic" policy that excludes NCB. I'm now with Adrian Flux for both vehicles and I earn NCB on the 90. Don't earn it on the 88", as that's a classic policy.
brighouse shed
You will also find that all 'normal' insurers won't touch landrovers and a driver under 21. I dont know if this is anything with an engine over 2 litres as my broker told me or just landrovers. hence daughter in citroen to get no claims and driving. Insurance premiums heading on towards two grand isn't something I can afford. Of course, having to make do with not being able to build NCD just so I can get about does mean when the time does come to having a normal car, I will have a bit of a nightmare. Retroanaconda
I suppose I did have 3/4 years of driving normal cars as well as Land Rovers to get me my NCB built up, if I were to start driving now I'd not be looking at a Land Rover with the way premiums are. My first year of driving cost me just under a grand on a 1.0L Corsa. Dropped considerably each year following, even when I upgraded to a 1.6L Focus and then the Land Rovers. Don't know whether that would happen nowadays if I'm honest, I don't envy you 17-year-olds!

tommi
Result! From the figures you had earlier and the figures a few of my mates have mentioned their kids are paying, £1192 is an absolute bargain I agree, Im 19 and currently pay £1200 for my defender with Footman, and the best part of £1000 for a 1.8 Focus with Admiral. A lot of my mates are paying £1500+ for little 1.2 litre euroboxes...
landroversforever
Frank Pickles won't touch you unless its your second car I'm afraid. £1192 is a good price, I'm paying about £1200 for my 90!
Russell_ds80
Hi all im 19 and been driving 2 years. Ive just been sorting insurance for my little punto 1.2 runabout. The company i was with (quinn direct) gave me a renewal price of £1200 on my Dads policy with me as a named driver. So i shopped around and a freind recommended elephant. I spoke to them and managed to get my own policy with both my parents as named drivers for £613 which is awesome. I also got a quote with Adrian flux for my landrover 90 and they wanted £860 which again i was pretty pleased with. Just need to get it finished now.
