Burnsinbarnsley
Hi I'm eventually going to do a full rebuild on the front hubs! I was wondering what people thought of the swivel ball gaiters?? Pros and cons from experience?? Thanks, Paul!

landroversforever
As I said before, two schools of thought.... The trap the mud/water in. They keep it away from the swivels. Personally I think the former. With the offroading I do they are going to get filled with water and mud and just hold it in there. Without is best
davyd8899
without, as said theyy hold mud and water, also cant be inspecet so readily
Burnsinbarnsley
Thankyou! Decision made, NO gaiters!! I'm new to this and the first landie I went to see had fabric-like gaiters fitted. I didn't buy it because as I rocked the steering the steering box moved on the chassis and the moved independently of the chassis!!! I bought the second!! ???? FridgeFreezer
Good choice. I fitted some to the 109 many moons ago, they filled with very fine sand/silt after driving through puddles so the swivel was running in a nice bed of abrasive muck! Binned them after that. smokinv8
I'd echo the above and bin em. But I guess it's a bit like the boots on shock absorbers, better with or without?!!
Snagger
I think it depends on how the vehicle is used - I fitted them to my RRC because they protect the swivel casings from stone chips on the motorways and I don't use it off road, so they can't fill up with mud or water. The 109 does fairly little off roading too, so it also has gaiters (rubber, not leather) for the same reasons. If it was going off road frequently, I wouldn't fit them...
