Michele
I finally convinced the boss to build split rims, like Stazworks... The design is similar, but these will have an alu center instead. I have yet to know the supposed price and details, but should the first prototypes see the light in the end I will post pics and specs. Who knows,I may even get a set to test... ...nah,probably not...
Astro_Al
Very nice. Is there an option for steel centres? Choice of centre designs? What about alternative bolt spacings? I'll need a set of something - Stazzies are the default option at the mo...? Cost? Mass? Materials? Cheers, Al.
Michele
Hi there, at the mo they're going to be designed to keep the Rover pattern so to fit the most common models and for width, backspacing and so on we used a Mach 5 we had lying in the shop as reference... I asked the boss for a 100% steel rim,'cos the alu center must be thicker in order to strong enough, and this would bring to longer wheelstuds...something extra I would happily avoid... Once he'll have started the machines (or whoever for him) and a first prototype will be done I'm sure eventual variations can be discussed. LR90
This sounds neat Michele. Will the rims be specific to the double beadlock, ie without the usual bead retianing profile if that makes sense? This should make them easier to manufacture but also simplifyu fitting and emounting the tyres onto the. It would however make them very unsafe without the internal ring but if people don't want beadlocks why buy a beadlock rim.
Michele
I hope Billavista won't mind if I steal his pic as reference for a while... This is how a Hummer style rims works. You can see proportions between the outer and the inner ring. You can't see the grove for the O-ring though. As above,I have not full details, but the design should have different proportions and a different groove. I will keep you updated as I am really excited to see the finished product. bathtub
Hi , Ive got a set from Matt Lee in alloy with nylon inner rim .Great the way they work BUT a pig tom assemble you have to start with 6" bolts & end up with 25mm bolts !!!!! Also i dont know if you will ever get them apart again without ****ing the tyre However the set ive got for the Iroks are the bolt on outer type took 15 mins a rim no leaks & peice of tiddle to take a part .Ive run them a 0psi no probs like the alloys & £1k cheaper. What cost you looking at ?????
Michele
Hi Pete; the lowest!!! Matt's rims are in comparison. I should see the first prototype should-hopefully within the 1st weekend of October (there's a 4x4 fair and we would put it on stand). Yap,PITA to assemble but let's say you don't change tyres every week... ... ... ...do you? Hi ,Ive got a set from Matt Lee in alloy (...) What cost you looking at ????? Michele
And finally the prototype set has come! Now fitted to the Cube, waiting for the weekend to test them out in the field! Here they are (don't mind the silly colour, unless your name is Trevor and own a certain 90 soft top )
dollythelw
looks good Michelle - just a quick question though.. they're not anodised ally bolts are they??
Michele
I think so and they're absolutely cr@ppy! They shear like cheese. New 10somewhat grade will be used instead, but they were not available yesterday,so we used 8.8 grade to mount the rims. That's why I'm a bit worried...being the tester... So far,on road, they're ok...and don't leak... P.S. Not ally bolts
Astro_Al
Nice. Is there any input on the following yet: Wheel diameters available Range of offsets available Wheel widths available Dished / flat centres available Different centres available Stud patterns available Cheers, Al. (liking the yellow, but not about to publicly admit it).
dollythelw
for gods sake dont drive it with Ally bolts!
Michele
Nice. Is there any input on the following yet:Cheers, Al. (liking the yellow, but not about to publicly admit it). Hi there! Wheel diameters available I'd say any (reasonable )diameter, although the first would be 16" and 15"... Range of offsets available As you like it. Wheel widths available As you like it. These were built using a 7" Mach 5 rim as guide. Dished / flat centres available Flat as standard and I think they'll stay like that,to save on $$$... Different centres available As you like it. Oh,wait...as below! Stud patterns available As you like it,as far as you give a reference or there's one available.
will_warne
M, I'd be interested in 15" or 17" with modular style dished centres. Is that posssible?
Michele
I think so, just wait for a proper test (I'm the test dummy!uh...) and lemme ask the boss (who has the last word about design changes! and not only) P.S. Dished centers I fear it's a no-no...

Here they are (don't mind the silly colour, unless your name is Trevor and own a certain 90 soft top ) If this has been asked before, sorry. Looking at the clamping ring it looks like it comes apart at a join? does this mean that it can be reduced in diameter to make it easy to locate it inside the tyre? Tonk
got any pics of them fitted in tyre on vehicle?
Michele
I took a couple of mine this morning,I'm waiting for the boss to download the pics. I'll post later if you don't mind the yellow
pugwash
any early price indicators? cheaper than Staz? M J Lee?
LR90
They do look nice, and I'm not just saying that coz they're yellow More pics of them fitted and fitting the tyre would be good. Does the rim have the usual shoulder to also hold the bead in place (and make fitting more difficult) or can these only be used with the insert? Michele
M, I'd be interested in 15" or 17" with modular style dished centres. Is that posssible? Yes as per 15"/17" with modular style. Only flat centers are planned at the mo. any early price indicators? cheaper than Staz? M J Lee? Pricelist is coming. Cheaper?Hopefully! or can these only be used with the insert? You can use them either with the insert or without it.
