dailysleaze
http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/c-93-brushed-nylon.aspx Does anyone know which of the grey ones is the same colour as the standard headlining in a defender?

dailysleaze
I don't really know to be honest. There is an off-white material but it's vinyl: http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/c-94-vinyl.aspx which i don't think the headlining is? or is it? Snagger
None of them are right, though grey would be closest.
RustyNissanPrairie
I have a roll of it at work (we make the foam that goes into headlinings for pretty much every car made in Europe). I'm saving it for re-doing mine but I should be able to get more. PM me. Incidently I was at the company last week that make Defender headlinings (and seats) but it wasn't really the time to ask if I could pinch some! Landy-Novice
from what i can find, the headlining is dapple grey. but the empire grey is probably closest. have you thought about a new headlining? http://www.lasalle-trim.co.uk/welcome
Troll Hunter
I've had my head lining panels out and I stripped the vinyl covering off them. I cleaned - scrubbed - the linings, to great benefit, and re-attached them to the head lining panels with Evostick type adhesive. The closest colour match is Empire Grey, but mine might be a little lighter, possible due to fading. It's a 1991 headlining after all! dailysleaze
I did initially think that I could remove the existing one and wash it, but i've read that the disintegrated foam backing causes the sagging and it wouldn't really stick properly without this. Is the foam backing necessary?
RustyNissanPrairie
The foam is essential. I have a roll of the stuff as supplied to JLR - foam backed, grey. I can get plenty more (we make the foam). FOC - collection only from Accrington/Lancs if you want some?
Troll Hunter
If I remember correctly, mine had foam backing which crumbled as I separated the vinyl from the rigid panel. I removed it all before I scrubbed the vinyl and reattached the vinyl without any backing. So no, you do not need the foam. Mike
