richardthestag
Hi Anyone done a lhd - rhd conversion on a 2 door classic? I am expecting that I need steering box, dash wiring loom, pedal box and remake up brake pipes. Any other nasties that I might expect? Cheers Richard
Darren Roberts
I think that you might need to swap the swivels as well? I think that the swivels are handed for where the steering bar connects from the drop arm on the steering box to the swivel?
Team Idris
A mates 90 had an ambidextrous front axel, but Disco1 and RRC didn't, which is why the swivel is rare ish. I even tried France, but they want all they can get to change UK disco's to LHD! Dennis on Linden Engineering in Colarado had a few, so maybe he has other bits as well? Unless you are going the other way, LHD to RHD, in which case, to be cheeky, do you want to swap two-arm swivel housings (you might as well re-seal both side at once )
smallfry
Also the panhard rod to chassis bracket is slightly different IIRC ?
Eightpot
I dont think you'll need to change any wiring off hand. But yes you will need a swivel housing, wiper arms, handbrake, steering box, possibly drag link depending, brake/clutch pipes, headlamps
task
The best option would be to buy a scrap 4 door classic of similar age to salvage parts (you don't say what age the left hooker 2 door is but I'm going to assume it's a later "CSK" style shell). Wiring should stretch over to the new dash position. If you have aircon then you might need to swap that over, along with all the stuff behind the dash for that, probably need new aircon pipes too.
