muddychris300tdi
Ok, just mulling over a few daft ideas with a mate. And it came up that people make 100 inch defenders but would it be possible to put a Disco 2 body on a defender 110 or 130 chassis. Chris. Gazzar
Why? Rotten chassis on the d2? You d have to do a bit with outriggers, gearboxes, panels, glass, as well as ace/bcu etc. Possible, maybe expensive, could be dvla issues, but possible. A double cab disco 2 pickup on a 130 chassis would be kinda cool, though!
muddychris300tdi
Well that was our thinking, a 130 disco 2. There are a fair few disco 2s with rotten chassis. Why not replace it with a different chassis.
landkeeper
it's been done to death with rrc's the principle is the same http://www.range-rover-classic.com/Home/land-rover-brochures/range-rover-specials
tacr2man
Be an IVA job , unless you could get a td5 130 chassis possibly , likely to be a bit thin on the ground .
muddychris300tdi
So if you did a 100 inch defender would it need to be IVA'ed as your not actually making alterations to the chassis, just putting it on another chassis.
western
The relevant IVA ingo is within the Fabrication forum, definitely worth reading before starting any project
muddy
I was mulling this over the other day thinking about a suitable 6bt project....... I have put a D2 on a galv chassis and built a ute style D1 amongst other projects. I would fabricate the body shape/style desired from the disco body and then cut the sills out to fit box section rocksliders that would pick up on the 110 or 130 chassis outriggers. I would then fab up some challenge style defender esque front wings and a flatbed/dropside rear body. That way no chassis mods would be required so the 110/130 ID can be retained. You could use the disco loom if you used the disco engine or I'm sure a higher spec defender loom would work everthing except the disco binicle but this could be adapted to use 300 gauges or even defender gauges as a freind has done with a puma dash in a 300tdi defender. All really simple if you read it fast...... Will.
Cheesy
One of the land rover magazines had a cool RRC in it maybe 10-15 years ago, it was stretched to 130 and built as a double cab ute/pickup. I think it was some sort of recovery vehicle, had a camo paint job. I never managed to find a picture of it on the net though
muddy
Didn't the paintman have a similar marroon raingie? It had a hicap body iirc. Will
muddychris300tdi
Still very much a vapour build but here is a video I saw. I'm not keen on the final build but halfway through you can see what a Disco 110/130 could look like
muddychris300tdi
LANDROVER DISCOVERY 2: sorry can't get the link to work from phone, will get laptop out in a bit.
need4speed
Im like you. The final build isnt to my taste, but you can definately see the potential half way through.. The squared-off arches and Hummer front let it down for a kick off
