Troll Hunter
I am about to start a rebuild on my GKN overdrive, and couldn't find any "how to" thread in the Tech Archive. Google found this thread for me, which is bang on. Mods may like to put a link to it in the Tech Archive. Please note that I haven't approached Buckeye Triumphs regarding permission to reproduce, etc. http://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/technical/jod/JOD1/JOD1.htm Browsing the same site I also found this thread about a cheap alternative to Heli Coils for remedying a stripped female thread. http://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/technical/EZLOK/EZLOK.htm Mike

miketomcat
I have used something similar made of brass for wood. Drill a hole I my case just whined them in instant thread in wood for removable items. Mike
CwazyWabbit
I've used the brass ones for wood as well Mike... If you have a lathe (or even a pillar drill at a push) it would be easy to knock up some of the steel ones out of some bolts and then fit using one of the more permanent loctites I'd have thought. Whilst a bit of a faff it would certainly be something that might get you out of a spot of bother on a Sunday night.

garrycol
Yes - before helicoils there were threaded inserts - nothing new there.
