IanT90
Planning to buy new stub axle but want to re use my original bush. Any tips on how to get it off suspect using heat to expand it but would welcome advice. Plus was going for Bearmach stub rather than cheaper Britpart option is it worth paying the extra ? western
this one Allmakes looks to have the bronze bush pre-fitted http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php/205077/0/stub_axle__early_front_defender if not then new bronze bushes are in http://www.brit-car.co.uk/search.php?xSearch=frc4319

IanT90
I was led to believe that all makes is the worst of the pattern parts followed by britcar especially for bearings etc thats why I was going for Bearmach ?
western
never had any problems with parts from Allmakes, my local parts place won't deal with Britpart. niether of them actually make the parts anyway.
David Sparkes
I don't know this assembly, a Defender being too new for me, but I understand that phosphor bronze is 'brass with oil added', and that heating it to any significant degree (such as to get a noticeable size change) will force the oil out of the material, destroying its self lubricating properties. Others should step in to provide correction or verification, as they see fit. Regards.
SvBeek
Bend the top of an old screwdriver and then use that to knock it out
IanT90
Problem sorted used stanley blade tapped it around the back until I could get a flat screwdriver blade behind then worked aroind gently teasing it off. So its off with no damage.
