For £300 it is worth it for the bits but being modified it could be problematic.

No... With the '200 series' the 3.5 with carburettors ended with the 1990 model year, 3.5 EFi was 1990-93 and the 3.9 was the 1993-94 and then the 95MY the '300 series' was introduced with a slight power increase for the 3.9 in March 1994. Ally V8
If you are talking about a 1993 "L" then its unusual as most were 4 door after about 84/5. If its a 72 "L" it would have been a 2 door. All were on carbs till about 86 when they did the "flapper" injected 3.5's.Hotwire 3.9's were 88-89? So which is it ?

As this is a disco forum its therefore we take it as a prefix L Discovery. I would think that the OP knows the difference between the two vehicles. That is why I thought it was an early model. i.e. 2 door on an L plate. So I am not mad then! (No more than usual that is for a Landy nut)
