Anyone with 35" tyres and std suspension

Recommended Posts

Guys,

Just wondering anyone running 35" tyres and a standard suspension on def 90. I'm looking for a measurement. Need to know the height from ground to bottom of chassis rail at the gearbox carrier. Any help would be great. Thanks

Shane

The curious part of me would ask why?

It's also well worth remembering not all 35" tyres are created equally, some will measure no more than 33" tall, while others could be close to 36" tall.

And on a measurement such as this (lets ignore the large potential for general inaccuracy due to the ground not really being 100% level), tyre pressures will have a big affect. The same tyre with 12psi in it, vs 38psi will probably make a fair bit of difference.

So I've braved the rain, it's 385mm from the ground to the lower face of the chassis rail just behind the radius arm mount.

And just for Chicken Drumstick :), my drive is fairly level, (I think the fall is around 1 in 40), is of concrete construction, C35 50-slump, and has a close tamped finish. The tyre pressures are 30psi all around. The tyres are 35 12.50 R15 BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM2 mounted on an 8J rim and they measure 34.9" tall and 11.5" wide, which is exactly the same as my mates 35x10.50 Simex ET's on 8J's. The Land Rover is fitted with standard spring colours, the rear being Genuine LR whilst the front springs are pattern parts, and weighs 1840kg. It is also fitted with a front winch. Hope this helps

Brilliant reply Lewis. If you happen to be walking past your 90 with a tape measure in your pocket could you possibly measure the height of one of your fronts springs, spring seat to top of the chassis and floor to the top of the wing. Working on mine today the springs seem rather compressed. thanks Chris.
