  1. Evening folks. I've found locally a nice looking Disco, its a 1996 v8 on gas. I have a few questions to ask owners of similar What sort of running costs should I expect on LPG? Would it be cheaper or more expensive to run than a 300tdi? secondly, what do you think the vehicle is worth? It seems very tidy and is ES spec., with 110k miles. £1000? The man says offers. Thanks, Roland
  2. Ok sounds good to me. Am i going to need a special tool to get this gear out?
  3. I'm about to replace an LT230 transfer box for a friend on his 110. I reckon i'm capable, only thing i was wondering is do you have to remove the input gear in the transfer box or will the transfer box just slide off the gearbox intact? Cheers Roland
  4. Nice work. I just welded a monster lump of box on the end of the chassis...
  5. Works on 2wd tractor fronts, so i dont see why not.
  6. I cant speak for the engine in a L/R application but in my Iveco 35.10 and 49.10 which have the 2.8 turbo and 2.5 turbo respectively, the engines are gutsy and totally reliable. The 2.5 NA is basically the same engine as my two.
  7. Right. Just fitted some second hand Red/Whites. It sits about 2.5" higher, giving about 5" clearance under the bump stops on the front. Not sure what's on the back, i hav'nt touched that yet. Nige, I reckon my front springs are essentially the same as yours, but 20lb higher rate. This should (hopefully) work well with my heaver and probably further forward mounted 200tdi. I think my standard shocks are too short now though.
  8. Steve, you say the red/whites are soft, at 170 lb they would be quite firm for fronts. Mind you, the front does have to take the weight of the engine.
  9. Nige, thanks. To answer your question, I want lift because on the front I have approx 2.5" from axle to bumpstop, and my dragling goes UP to the axle eng haha. What colour code springs do you run? Point to note - I have blue stripes on the front springs, which from the table are comparitavely short and soft?! Maybe I just have the wrong springs fitted.
  10. It does but not on a regular basis, only from one muddy place to another. I want as much lift as I can get but I still want to get the axles on the bump stops when cross axled, which I dont think would happen if I fitted much stiffer springs.
  11. Hmm. That is completely confusing... although it would seem that rear springs are longer? What genuine springs would give a 90 with no winch a lift, but still be nicely supple for trialling?
  12. Afternoon folks. Every man and his dog seems to be selling springs and shocks these days, most of them Britpart or so it would seem. Who sells decent springs? Are these Britpart ones any good? I'm also after a set of 11" shocks I expect Gwyn Lewis is best for these? Unless anybody has any other suggestions Cheers all Roll
  13. Sounds like a good candidate for being welded solid to me.
  14. Fit a T piece. I reckon you could fit it on the caliper somewhere, and only use one flexy.
  15. Thats not strictly true, the IR ones are a completely different design. My snap-on CTU4850HO is the most powerful one to date, it will be beaten but not by much. About £400.
  16. Suprised there wasnt side lugs flying off in all directions. My truck (200tdi, 1.2 R380, 265/7516 ATs) will do about 85 but I think its overgeared, so i lose out. Roly
  17. I should look for air leaks as they will affect running and starting, seing as yiou have already found one buggered vac pipe.
  18. Of course the best option would be a detroit locker in the back and a truetrac in the front. I'd start with the back though, seeing as the trailer will apply weight there.
  19. There must be a difference between having them fitted and having them switched on. yes?
  20. Rear it is then. I was thinking about turning ability, when I use diff lock on my tractors they are harder to steer.
  21. Which would then draw a vaccuum inside the turbo, sucking the oil out. I get it.
  22. So would I be better doing the front diff, or the rear?
  23. Wouldnt the oil be drawn into the intake on conventional turbo setups anyway? How does the draw through method make it any worse?
  24. Look here Looks an interesting mod, and that turbo looks quite big! I wonder how the blower likes having to draw a petrolly mist. Anyone seen one of these before? Roland
