  1. Hi all , the heater control that controls the fan speed is knackered found a new one latest part number STC4848 but they come in at £85 that's for a genuine part though, so thought I'd ask if the strip on the mechanism that alters the fan speed can be repaired ? which I very much doubt or if anyone has upgraded this control for something else ? Have done a search but found nothing and thought I'd ask on here to see if there's a cheaper option before a part with £85 . cheers Ian
  2. Will try the thin screw driver simon , will bear that in mind western the tape seemed to be doing a good job but will see after I've been to work in her for a week.
  3. Yes I was expecting to have to strip out the dash looking for broken wire which would have been a wright pain as I use it to get to work. Also one to remember if anyone else has a similar problem because the plug appeared to be fitted correctly it wasn't till I pushed it in a bit more firmly that the fast speed sprang into life , will try and find another plug if that's possible.
  4. Cheers western yes wired in ok while I had the cover off thought I'd put the voltmeter on it as when I started her up wipers wouldn't work at all so switched the stalk on had 12v on the green wire , so put the plug back in and hey presto they worked . Turns out the problem was the connector on the main loom , it doesn't fit snugly enough in to the park switch so it works loose and the wipers stop working ,but not loose enough that you could tell if you take the cover off to look. And it doesn't fit tight enough to make 2nd speed work , push the plug in firmly and everything works as it should , so wrapped some electrical tape round the plug pushed it in and all works fine. So need to look for a new plug for the wiring loom , result . Thanks western and Simon for the help glad I haven't got to take the whole dash off. cheers Ian
  5. Yes got prc 7370 down for intermitant , up 1 and 2 for wipe fast wipe . Will check the wiring tomorrow got to go over my mom and dads in the morning forgot there wedding anniversary ooops , bad son so will fetch the cover off when I get back.
  6. Yes via one of the motor fixing bolts .
  7. sorry its a 200tdi 110 93. I'm at a bit of a loss can't work out why they work ok then suddenly stop working ,and why the fast speed won't work at all when all the parts are new .
  8. Prith turned the star wheel on mine a full turn clockwise was loads better going to try another half a turn .
  9. cheers simon will try that . Sorry western cross wires there , what I meant was there isn't a diode (think that's what there called) in the wiper circuit like there is in the rear heated screen circuit (attach the black/pink wire from switch to earth to by pass the diode on the heated rear screen circuit) .
  10. Cheers Simon tried that on the old wiper motor and didn't work so bought a new Lucas wiper motor and still the same . Is there anything hidden in the wiring for the front wipers ? Like there is with the rear heated screen i.e. it won't work but if you take the black/pink wire run it to earth it works , just a thought .
  11. Hi all , I've tried searching but can't find anyone with the same problem as I have and I could do with some pointers were to look. Rite the wiring hareness is new I've fitted new wiper boxes and new wiper motor I've tried 2 new programmable relays and I've tried 2 stalks the old one and a new Lucas one and I still get the same problem. The problem being intermitant and 1st speed work ok 2nd speed or fast wipe doesn't work turn wipers on they work fine but if you turn them off and try to turn them on again sometimes they will not work on any setting go back next morning they work fine again . any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated cheers Ian

  14. That was my thinking , she won’t be used for towing I’ve got my 110 for that and any off roading I do. Would you do just the fronts ?
  15. Hi all , looking for some advice on whether to spend or save me money, as above on my new project I'm converting it to an auto it will only be used for road work and maybe going down a track or two . So to my question ,would converting it to vented discs have any benefit or would I just be converting for the sake of it ? All opinions and advice welcome the more the better ,anyone who's done this conversion was it worth it ? cheers Ian
  16. Yes it is a problem when at junctions will try moving the star wheel as mentioned above see if that improves her.
  17. Cheers thought it was clockwise but thought I'd ask before I start fiddling .
