  2. Cheers Snagger would like to keep the control box as you can program it yourself to stop on from 1 minute to I think 1024 minutes though I don't know why you would want it on that long.
  3. Cheers Snagger got that bit sorted it's what each wire coming out of the control box going to the switch does I need to no ? The control box is a sealed unit with the relay inside, not that I'd be able to fathom out what's going on in there if I could open it, the wires are red ,black, orange, purple some are obvious i.e. black earth got the instructions but doesn't tell you that and there's no contact us details on the red bison web site, and the last thing I want to do is blow it up before I've used it.
  4. Hi all , I was brought a red bison heated screen wiring kit for xmas which was great but it has the genuine Land Rover switch and I have a 200tdi 110 so I can't fit the switch so I want to change it for a carling switch as I already have some fitted and a spare space . Have been to there web site which was no help so thought I'd ask on here does anyone have said kit with a carling switch that could have a look and fell me which colour wire goes where on the switch or knows which wire goes where in the genuine switch to see if I can work it out that way. cheers Ian

  12. Yes had to mod it a bit, the older one the holes for the warning panel are tapped drilled them out, carefully drilled some new holes in the warning panel made 2 wooden blocks to act as packers and then bolted it together. Can take some pics of it tomorrow if you'd like a look at what I've done ? Like I said did it because I had already got the older one and didn't want to shell out again for the newer one.
  13. You can fit the td5 warning panel to the raptor pre TD5 binnacle because I have done it as I ordered the early binnacle for my project its a 200tdi and then decided to fit TD5 gauges and warning light panel. If you buy one buy the steel binnacle mount as well better than the plastic one, they're very good. .http://www.raptor-engineering.co.uk/product/defender-s111-binnacle-mount/
  14. Hi all, with my project defender 110csw nearly done, I finally got rid of my freelander2 (yipeeee) and acquired a defender 90 300tdicsw in the bargain so my next project awaits and the old grey matter is already trying to figure out what to do with it, so am riding round in the father-in-laws defender 90 td5 at the mo and I'm happy. Have already decided to do it as a road going defender so lowering it is on the cards but the big question is what to do with the engine. There are 2 options I fancy the first is to buy the kit from md engineering and turn it into a hs2.8 l engine, has anyone done this is it a good upgrade or would it cause loads of trouble and hassle resulting in big bills ? Are the power gains with this conversion worth the money,. I've read some posts about these engines but I think they were about buying the hs2.8 from new not converting a 300tdi. Or 2nd one is install a TD5 this appears to be the cheaper option from my initial looks into it but many questions here, do you go for the 10p or later 15p ? I know I need a td5 loom, fuse box ,ecu and alarm and clocks and gauges. I know I can use the transfer box off the 300tdi but can I use the gearbox from the 300tdi? with a td5 bell housing on it ? I think I can as there both r380 although I believe I need the a td5 linkage mechanism ? If so can I leave the 300tdi gearbox and transfer box mounts were they are which means I could re use the props fit the engine and then weld on the new td5 engine mounts were required ? Phew sorry if its a bit confusing any help would be greatly appreciated as always I've done a search but can't find anything specific that helps on either subject, but if anyone can point me in the direction of some posts or write on this it would help a lot. cheers Ian

  18. Hi all, sorry to jump in on the thread but I've got a 300tdi 90 sw which I have just brought as a project and I was considering swapping the 300tdi engine for a TD5 as Chicken Drumstick mentioned in his 1st post, has anyone done this mod and does anyone know to a write up or article anywhere that some one has written on how they did it ? Have done a search but only ones I could find were for a disco300tdi to a td5 swap. would like to know whats involved and whats needed so I can price it up. cheers Ian
  19. Hi all, have done a search and can't find anything that helps so thought I'd ask the more experienced on here. I am setting the linkages on my transfer box, firstly the diff lock, I can set it so the lever is to the left and the selector is fully to the right to engage diff lock but it moves out of diff lock and clicks but I can't get the selector to move fully to the left when disengaged, is this ok ? As I have been winding the pivot pin in and out trying to get it to move fully to the right and left. And I've also been trying to set the high low range selector is there a way to set these properly as I got it so hi range went in ok but it won't seem to go into low and I've moved the adjustment in and out. Also sometimes if I move the handbrake drum back and forwards it drops in have I got a problem ? All the linkages and the selector lever are knew I brought them when I purchased my 380 stumpy from ashcrofts and I've had the hi low selector unit off the transfer box and that seems ok. any help would be greatly appreciated as always cheers Ian
