  1. Very good also helps anyone else in the same predicament as you can now search for the garret part number and it might mean you won't get fobbed off.
  2. Nice one monkie unfortunately they haven't any in stock neither has there supplier but the very kind gent supplied me with the part no for said actuator a quick search through up a few in Europe as they were priced in euros at 69euros , so just in case anyone else has the same problem the garret part number for the actuator for a 200tdi 11L engine is 430819-0095. And he did say that normally they would only supply complete turbos for land rovers. cheers Ian
  3. Now what you mean reb78 suppose it's a way of making more money out of you, cheers monkie just sent them an email. Will let you know how I get on. cheers Ian

  9. Cheers reb78 Is it a straight swap ? And did you buy a new one ? If so were did you get it from and last but not least do you have a part number ? Cheers Ian
  10. Just emailed them then noticed there address on the bottom , in China so fingers crossed I get a reply I understand.
  11. Cheers western that's the one on ebay I'd looked at £32 sounds a lot better than £200 and it looks the same in the photo , just had a quick read of the thread seems to imply that when connected it should be quite stiff which is what I thought from reading other threads about adjusting it for extra boost I can open mine with my thumb with mole grips will drop them an email and see if they can help.
  12. Hi all I've got a 200tdi 110 11L engine and I think my actuator on the turbo is on its way out, I've adjusted it for extra boost and its virtually got no thread showing on the rod and still not got 1bar and if I put a pair of mole grips on the end of the rod I can push the waste gate open with my thumb and its not much of a struggle. So I thought I'd replace the actuator found the part number STC960 but only places I can find them for sale is Britcar and LR Direct at over £200 a pop ouch . So does anyone know were I can get one cheaper or know if one of another turbo like a 300tdi will fit as I can find loads for a 300tdi on ebay. Thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone can help before I start sending emails to every turbo rebuilders in the uk when most proberbly won't even bother replying . cheers Ian
  13. I brought the complete floor kit from YRM and changed it all the easiest way to change that bit is take the tub off . If I remember right it's a bit of a sod it's tack welded to some bits and bonded also I think there's an angled bracket that fits off that to the side panel if my memory serves me right . cheers ian
  14. Did Land Rover fit rear Salisbury axles to the td5's ? I've seen one for sale but I thought I'd read somewhere that they changed to Rover axles after the 300 tdi' . cheers Ian
  15. Cheers all sorted another problem I didn't have .
  16. Well jacked her up and marking the tyre at 12 then moving it , it only moves about 20 mm before it engages the prop so I would think the shafts are fine. There is a clunk when it engages but don't think I've got a serious problem unless anyone has any other ideas like a bearing or something cheers all for the help . cheers Ian
  17. Cheers Neil thought I could but been a while since I'd put it back together, no need for a strip down. cheers Ian
  18. Cheers Snagger will see what movement there is before it engages then if there's play slide the shafts out and take a look. Am I right in thinking that if remove the flanges I can slide the shafts out without taking the hub off? Also is it best to have both rear wheels off the floor when you check or can you do it one side at a time ? cheers Ian
  19. She's a 200 tdi converted from drums to discs so would imagine it's an early axle , used the diesel Jim method when I converted it so shouldn't have the seals. It's a daily driver will do some towing and lug fishing gear about also plan to do some green laning at some point so will have to decide which to go for. Cheers Ian
  20. Just in case I need to replace the half shafts I've looked on Ashcroft website for there price is there any other make or company that does any better ones ? cheers Ian
  21. Cheers all ,will get her in the shed Saturday and have a good look ,check everything that's been suggested and tell you my findings ,would do it earlier but on he dead mans shift this week so not really got the time. cheers Ian
  22. Cheers Peaklander will check that too.
  23. Cheers Snagger , a frame ball joint is new as is all suspension and bushes when I did the rebuild also replaced drive flanges with hd ones from paddocks but as you said not cheap ones will get her in the garage at the weekend and check what you've suggested will let you know what I find . I did check the axles over and they seemed fine but she was off the road for 2 1/2 years so didn't know if some damage occurred on start up and using her again . cheers Ian
  24. Hi all , have developed a clunk when changing gear but also happens when you take your foot off the accelerator then re apply it which I thought ruled out the clutch which is new anyway, so put her over the pit at the weekend with wheels chocked and hand brake off to have a look. It appears it might be the rear axle , I measured the movement by turning the prop full one way marking it at 6 o'clock the moving it the other way marking it again the measuring the distance between the marks (don't know wether that's the correct way to do it) and both we're 20 mm , the only noticeable difference was the front axle was stiffer as in a more controlled movement but the back when moving was way looser and made a clunk when it reached the end of its travel. Is this normal ? Or have I got a problem and if so any ideas of were to look ? I've done a search but found nothing pacific to this , the axle has been converted to discs and as always any help much appreciated. cheers Ian
