Bosch VE fuel pump pins for 200TDi Defender engine
ianmayco68 replied to Jocklandjohn's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
Mine's got a 13 on the bottom as well , have the same thing as you with the boost pin Prith gets a bit better when she's warm but you have to push her hard to get her to pull in the next gear but she does fly as much as a Defender can fly . -
That's why I contacted them because I'd seen them mentioned on here but as every one else no reply , I was after a hybrid turbo but then its the cost and I've now started a new project 90. But I did look at rebuilding my existing turbo with this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Billet-Hybrid-Turbo-CHRA-465171-465175-Land-Rover-Defender-Discovery-200TDi-/391547266881?hash=item5b2a092741:g:7LsAAOSw-kdXxruN its got an uprated oil seal and bearing and a gtx compressor wheel which is lighter and got more blades so it spools up faster and moves more air so it says .

Hi all , took all the injectors out cleaned the holes out cleaned injectors and refitted them with new washers, torqued them down and all seems to be ok. I did tighten them to the correct torque when I did the rebuild but a couple came loose and I just tightened them back down so perhaps I didn't tighten them enough, cheers everyone for the advice . Ian

Yes Steve got the LR workshop manual , but can't remember if I used a torque wrench when I put them back in .
-
Cheers Mo , when I said unmarked I meant it didn't look like it had been tightened down on something but now you've said that perhaps I haven't tightened them down enough. So think the plan of action is take them out the weekend clean out the holes clean the injectors then see how it goes . cheers Ian

When I took the injector out to try and reseat it the washer looked fine no marks or anything , the injector was covered in black soot all up, its not wet round the spill rail or the injector pipe only round the hole were the injector sits in , will fetch it out again and try and clean it out with a rag . I've only just rebuilt her, head was tested even had the injectors and pump checked by a friend of a friend who worked at a diesel specialist but they stood for over 12 months before I actually finished her and put her on the road. Its only just started doing it ,it was fine when I first started using her daily. Ian

Cheers Mark will keep them in mind .

Hi all, I've got diesel coming back up the injector from cylinder 1all the others are fine , I've had the injector out 3 times and refitted it with a new washer have also fitted a new genuine spill rail to rule that out and its still happening . Anybody got anything else I can try before I fork out for some recon injectors ? If I brought new nozzels can you fit them your self ? Any help greatly appreciated as always cheers Ian.

There was a article in Aug issue of Land Rover owner international a chap had a series 2a one of these he rebuilt it , it looked mint would love to have a play with one.
-
Cheers Troll Hunter will have a good read of that site over the next few days, had thought about drilling holes we have to be careful at work when fabing stuff up that the vent holes are there and in the right place .
-
Yes wise words I was going to try buzzweld chassis paint as I'd heard good things about it.
-
Yes bulkheads going to the blasters at same time then footwell repair then having that galved at work as well , it's really handy having a galv plant at work shame it's not a few years down the line as they're building a powder coating plant in the next few years . Only parts I'm not sure about is the axle casings as they will be galved on the inside as well .
-
Cheers both will get it hot dipped as you've both had such good results. cheers Ian

Hi all , have just started my next project a 300tdi 90 it's fully stripped down will start a thread and post some pics up of progress along the way shortly. Now its stripped the first job is the chassis its in pretty good nick needs a bit of welding in the usual places of behind the gearbox xmem and the a frame xmem , its off to the shot blasters Monday so will know more when it comes back of the full extent of the rot. I can get it galvanised at work as we have our own plant , but as its an old chassis is it worth hot dip galving it or would cold galv paint be better . I'm asking as I've read in another thread that the galv won't stick and it will rust from inside out , then I've read an article were it said that it can be done as long as its dipped first. So whats everyone's thoughts on this ? cheers Ian

Trailer Light - 2004 TD5 110
ianmayco68 replied to J.A.G_100's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
Mines got a little nob on top off the relay , you turn that till the trailer light goes out I believe. Didn't need to do mine when I fitted them as all worked ok . Bolt on bits sell the relay with the adjuster nob on the top. cheers Ian -
Superb I'll have a few beers to celebrate for you .
-
Very good also helps anyone else in the same predicament as you can now search for the garret part number and it might mean you won't get fobbed off.
-
Nice one monkie unfortunately they haven't any in stock neither has there supplier but the very kind gent supplied me with the part no for said actuator a quick search through up a few in Europe as they were priced in euros at 69euros , so just in case anyone else has the same problem the garret part number for the actuator for a 200tdi 11L engine is 430819-0095. And he did say that normally they would only supply complete turbos for land rovers. cheers Ian
-
Now what you mean reb78 suppose it's a way of making more money out of you, cheers monkie just sent them an email. Will let you know how I get on. cheers Ian
