  1. Cheer's for that western but I'v just realized I can't use a 300 as my dipstick tube is the screw in type as it was originally a Def 200 and the 300 is a push in type so I will just have to wait till I fit the exhaust and see if the dipstick fouls the exhaust and adjust the dipstick tube accordingly
  2. That's the best thing about not having a wife and owning a landy my money is all mine
  3. Cheer's guys for all your help, yeah I'm not really into tweaking stuff to be honest but as said the FIP was already done before I bought the engine and with fitting the engine into the 2a and raising the gearing I was kind of hoping the bigger intercooler on its own would have helped in some way without tweaking the turbo so I will just have to see how it is with the std intercooler fitted, I also think I mite be over thinking it a bit aswell and probably wouldn't need it anyway but we will see
  4. Not sure as I haven't fitted the 300 turbo yet as it's on my to buy list, the FIP was already tweaked before I bought the engine which was in my 90 before I sold it as I fitted a Disco engine to that and kept the Defender engine for the 2a but will be x dressed engine as the original Def timing case was damaged so replaced it with a Disco one and replacing the Def 200 manifolds and fitting 300 setup as the new turbo and SP exhaust kit works out a couple of hundred quid cheaper. But from what everyone's said it's not worth fitting a bigger intercooler so I will leave it and fit a std intercooler instead
  5. Ok it's a 200tdi in a S2a with a 300tdi turbo and tweaked FIP the reason I ask is I have upgraded all the gearing, Def diffs, Ashcroft transmission and will be fitting an o/d aswell oh and 7-50's aswell if that helps
  6. Hi guys is anyone running an after market 300tdi up graded intercooler ( same as a std one but a bit thicker ) they claim they give 30% increace in power and are between £100-£200 depending on make. i know the Allisport ones are supposedly the best and give the same power increase but are vertually twice as much, what do you think
  7. I don't have a 300 tdi one hence why I'm asking
  8. Does the carb look new or old as the newer chinease made Zeniths are troublesome as there isn't much you can do with them bit like a Weber carb, the older Zeniths are a lot easier to work on but can ware due to age and I don't think you can get parts for them anymore so I think your only choice is to replace it with a Weber and grip you teeth. I would replace the plugs and points and or if you can upgrade to an electronic ignition distributor as there a more reliable, hope this helps
  9. Hi guys I have a S2a rebuild with a Disco 200tdi engine in and going to fit a 300tdi inlet and exhaust manifolds and turbo as I am also going to fit a full Steve Parker 300tdi to series exhaust and need to know if you can use a 300tdi dipstick as everything will be in the way if I use the 200tdi dipstick but not sure if the levels are the same, what do you think
  10. Hi guys Just had a rough recon up of how much I need to spend on the 2a before its finished and it doesn't inc tyres and lights comes to roughly between 3k-4k and I no we sold the 90 instead and we have already put £1.800 into it all ready, its amazing how much money we put into our landy's its a good job I do a savings plan at work ( what I put in they put in aswell ) so around the time son gets married I will be getting a 3k lump sum from work can't wait Anyone else done this
  11. Yeah I will be fitting a new 300 rad and intercooler anyway as I don't have either yet so a leaking rad and oil cooler hopfully shouldn't be a problem for a few years at least providing the rad doesn't get damaged of course
  12. Are well i will just have to see as its all up and running now has been for the past 8-9 months. I keep meaning to get one of those fans. think work are doing away with the egg pallets so I mite have to look for another source but it will have to wait till the 2a is finished but I will see what happens first
  13. Mine will be using a 300tdi rad and my last one used a 200tdi rad and it warmed up fairly quick probably as it had an electric fan that never got used as the engine warmed up to temp easily and stayed at normal and never needed to use it hopfully this one will be the same
  14. Chopped a load of pallets up i get from work today ready for when i'm next in the garage working on the 2a, was going to have a burn today but it just wasn't cold enough to fire it up no point in wasting wood when there's no need to
  15. Same colour my 88 is going to be all one colour inc the modular wheels
  16. I just compare my old S2a with its then 2.25 Petrol engine in and later converted to a Disco 200tdi and the tdi started to clear the screen within a few mins instead of 20 + mins with the 2a engine, the only think I can think is the fact that the 2.25p engine had a fixed fan bolted to it and the tdi didn't.
  17. Cheer's guys, all sorted now did them earlier in the week and only had to remove one thin shim to one of the swivels, been stud a week now and no leaks
  18. Cheers guys Im not there yet but when I get to looking at the heater I will have a good look at it and depending what it's like I will fit it and see how it is once it's all running and depending on how good it is I will fit a round type heater in the back
  19. Assuming the breather is ok and not blocked the only other thing I could suggest is you mite need to fit Def / Disco stub axles as they have a seal in the diff end of the stub axles to stop oil from passing down the half shaft but you will need to run the wheel bearings on grease instead of oil, hope this helps.
  20. Yeah I really want to keep the heater side of things std as I know with an S3 heater probably would be the best but probably to much work to make fit, as said mines the flat type heater but the vehicle when I bought it wasn't road worthy so couldn't test it and was connected to a 2.25p engine which whilst doing the 2a rebuild I have replaced with a 200tdi engine. My last S2a I rebuilt with a 200tdi in was an older model 1961 with the round type heater fitted and with the 200in the heater was a lot better but with this one having the flat type heater in and positioned in the centre I was hoping it would be warmer but if not I mite look into fitting a round type heater in the back and switched seperatly.
  21. Thanks Dave that sounds great, yeah I did think about the S3 heater but you need a big square hole in the bulkhead so the heater can blow the warm air through also been looking at bulkheads and set my heart on a late S2a bulkhead as mine should be (1970 ) but I have seen some that have a long cut out above where the flat heater should fit and wondered what it's for as I have noticed not all late bulkheads have this but all seem to use the flat heater as my old bulkhead has been heavily messed with by PO I've no idea if mine should have one.
