The door tops are relatively easy to make in aluminium, especially with your skills, if you look at page 118 on my mog axle thread you can see how I made my aluminium door tops for my lightweight, possibly not up to your standard of fabrication, but they do the job Regards Stephen

It is a cement mill, clinker and gypsum in one end, ground into cement through two Chambers, first one containing a mix of 70 upto 90mm balls, second chamber is three times longer containing a mix of 17mm to 20mm balls for the finishing grind. Total weight including shell around 150 tonnes Regards Stephen

Definately agree to have a tracker fitted, makes a vast difference to your premium also you get rewarded with lower payments for good behaviour, young lad on my team went that way and was very happy, try specialist 4x4 like Adrian Flux as stated above regards Stephen

Quite a few of us will have changed big end shells, not too bad a job, so I thought I would post this white metal bearing change ( think massive shells ) Old bearing had failed causing white metal to wipe, my foot to give perspective New one to be installed, these are supplied round and oil lead has to be scraped in on the white metal surface, hence the need for bearing scrapers ( I know this makes you happy @Nonimouse ) this is what it is getting fitted onto lifted to allow bearing to be slid out bearing slides in here trunnion that sits on it bearing half weighs around a ton, ring in the middle is an oil lifter regards Stephen

I'm pleased your Lidl screen worked fine, unfortunately mine did not last two minutes, however my good lady saved the day at the time when she bought me an Esab Sentinel, fantastic helmet, chalk and cheese compared to the Lidl one I had Now, I have also got a 3m Speed glass one with air fed hood, which I have yet to try in anger Regards Stephen -

Equipping a workshop - first off a compressor and welder
Stellaghost replied to Jon W's topic in Tools and Fabrication
Same as what Mike said for the compressor For the welder if your just starting out buy a mig welder, by far the easiest to learn and very good for thin material and thick if it has a decent capacity. I have a Cebora Autostar 180 for 30 years now, welding anything from 0.8mm up to 30mm and it has been fantastic. Mig welders are fairly cheap take a trip to machine mart and have a look at a few. If your looking at thicker material then an arc welder will also work but a lot more skill required to weld vertical and overhead, although you can buy multi-positional rods that help greatly with this Regards Stephen -
I can definitely see the mark, probably does look darker when looking straight on.....lol Regards Stephen Ps, have you got something to tell us @Snagger....................... Regards Stephen

RRC body/shell refurbishment specialist recommendations
Stellaghost replied to Snagger's topic in Range Rover Forum
I'm sorry @Snagger I had a right good chuckle at that, I could never afford to have a car restored to that standard by a restoration company especially a good one If your cash flow is tight after that I would be destitute...... Great work by the way I cannot wait to see it finished Regards Stephen -
Yes it will, but steel rusts unless it's stainless Landrover have certainly not gone to that expense... Regards Stephen

Cast iron is good but as stated rusts quickly, brass might be softer but let's get realistic, your not going to wear it out that quickly unless your steering wheel is made out of chain links and your driving the car 24/7. We have brass inserts and bearings at work that are operating in extreme conditions 24/7 and they last well in high temps and dusty conditions obviously with lubrication Years ago they used wood bearings with grease, not that I'm suggesting using wood...... I would state that in my opinion a steel shaft with a cast iron bearing could weld itself together with rust if there is an ingress of water and the vehicle is left standing for a wee while Regards Stephen

JCB have signed a contract to produce super clean hydrogen engines, they have also developed a fueling system for said engines, yes it's construction equipment at the moment, however it will be under the spotlight and if successful and no "accidents" I reckon it will eventually get into the public domain Toyota are looking at/have developed an ammonia engine and possibly abandoning the EV route altogether Regards Stephen
