  3. Oh by the way I've built myself an electric car.......... How awesome really, you are the man...Regards Stephen
  4. That's kind of the angle they were at, will look at it again tomorrow, obviously my shocks are way longer than those, no way I'll get them under the tub, the angle they would need to be would make it a total waste of time buying the shocks in the first place With the portals the centre line of wheels will be 5" lower than yours so there will be differences as to where the wheels tip to regards Stephen
  5. Could be, my previous try in stock position tyres starting to rub, however brackets were made so tub wasn't cut, I could remake straight and cut the tub I guess regards Stephen
  6. @muddy I'm assuming your talking about installing the shocks to the rear of the axle regards Stephen
  7. A tad too close to the chassis, chassis is directly over radius arm mount, I could cut away some of the strengthening and mount it at the bottom of radius arm mount, either way I'm still going into the tub however by my calcs I will not be above stepped section so I figured the floor section not affected by shocks could be boxed in to make storage compartments regards Stephen
  8. I did think %%%# it might as well go for it..lol Regards Stephen
  9. Ohhh dear.... I fear the worst..... She will be used to having lots of children running around her....... Best lay off the workshop for a couple of decades.... You are going to need your energy...... Will be hard work looking after a tribe of little Ross's But on the bright side in the future you will be like me and get plenty of workshop relaxation.... Regards Stephen
  10. That's exactly what Gon2far did I remember reading about it Not really going to be able to move bottoms out but I can move tops in a wee bit, although I might wait as once recovery gear, winches, roll cage etc are back on weight is going to increase substantially regards Stephen
  11. Had a bit play today with rear suspension so with this mod I found out the shocks have more dampening power when upright, so I may need softer springs as they did not compress as much as before Took the compressed spring out and we have this rear wheel is now 42" off the ground as appose to 36 before, it won't go quite that far with springs back in Thoughts as always regards Stephen
  12. One of the few advantages of age, family up, workshop 15metres away.... You'll find out one day Ross.... Regards Stephen
  13. I get that, however my argument would be that if it's hammered over bumps at speed it's not getting down to the bottom and therefore not getting full articulation, speed helps to level the bumps out as your skimming over them, you could bottom out the suspension at speed but again both shockers compressing in alignment and the little green thing has been built for speed prior to you, I'm more into rough terrain handled at a lower speed but necessitating full movement at all angles to drive over if you get my drift regards Stephen
  14. I would totally agree with that regards Stephen
  15. Just read the Will Warne thread, what a crying shame it never got completed, some fantastic work there and certainly not always glacial. Rest assured mine will be completed regards Stephen
  16. Have you had it at full flex to see how close things get Regards Stephen
  17. Some of us have feelings you know......... LOL regards Stephen
  18. Apologies not needed... I'm aware you have a lot on and a short deadline to try and meet Regards Stephen
  19. Will have a measure up on Wednesday I do want to maintain the present width and keep the lightweight silhouette Front shock tops also need to remain under the bonnet, but I'm not against cutting the rear tub if I have to Ideally if someone walked last they would only say, he's put bloody big tyres on that where as someone with knowledge would take in the other differences and hopefully say that has been subtly done I don't want an obviously big monster truck and I also don't want suspension bulges / turrets sticking out in the open screaming " look at me" as far as possible I will not compromise on these things Set up is not that far away at present but obviously still needing work, it's all moot until my days off starting Wednesday regards Stephen
  20. I take it goes through the rear tub ? Regards Stephen
  21. @landroversforever Did you go out with the coils then regards Stephen
  22. Could you possibly post a picture of your rear shock set up please regards Stephen
