  1. This might be helpful if you need to make a drive shaft regards Stephen
  2. Great believer in this "If it's not broke don't fix it" Regards Stephen
  3. Just to keep the record straight, the above two items were getting scrapped at work as no longer used or required @Anderzander and @L19MUD my scrap man is very good but there is usually a cost involved, cheap mind you but a cost all the same @L19MUD just had a look at cost new for a Majorlift 20 tonne pitjack, I see what you mean, cough Regards Stephen
  4. That's always the conundrum Sale value over future worth in use.... Regards Stephen
  5. @FridgeFreezer I have this if it's any good, pump and control box/ lever off a Wingate dumper tipping mechanism, obviously I would clean it up if you wanted it posting down Pump overall length is 51/2", pump body is 3" and is gear driven regards Stephen
  6. My latest free treasure This will be very useful for Sid as it has a greater reach than my other Jack's My other piece of treasure is this A 20 tonne pneumatically operated pit jack, my thoughts with this are that it would make a good basis for a panel pressing rig. A twin jack set up would have made life a bit easier when I pressed my vent panel recesses in Thoughts regards Stephen
  7. Two pieces of "scrap" to collect tomorrow, one will be reasonably immediately useful with a bit of tlc for my project, the other will need a tad of modification to use it how I'm thinking off, quite sure @Ed Poore will be accusing me of sacrilege again...lol But I'll keep you guessing until tomorrow....... Regards Stephen
  8. Am I allowed to play ????? Regards Stephen
  9. I'm known as a bit of a skip rat, but lets be right its only urban beach combing... regards Stephen
  10. Hi welcome to the forum Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the D4 set up but what your describing is similar to what can happen when swivel preload is not set up correctly on series and Defender front axles, with that in mind I would check all your steering components, ball joints etc check wheel bearings also regards Stephen
  11. Not even remotely exciting but it will save me some floor space regards Stephen
  12. I agree with you entirely. I have annealed aluminium for when I've pressed some of the panels for my project, however I chose not to anneal because I wanted the rigidity to give me strength, panels I have annealed in the past stay easily manipulated for too long, I would rather have the strength now as appose to waiting for the panels to work or age harden, don't want to risk panels deforming because they are still to soft if you get my drift regards Stephen
  13. Had a bit of spare time tonight so made seat belt mounting point brackets, still to drill as yet folded Welded Smaller ones folded. This is what I like about the gabro, a small piece of angle cut to go inside folds to complete last fold Welded up and all done Regards Stephen
  14. This came today complements of a very generous @Ed Poore thanks so much Ed There will be a slight modification I'm going to substitute the threaded bushed end for a threaded rose joint regards Stephen
  15. So old section cut out and new piece made this morning sikaflexed and riveted in still plenty to do but tub already feels much more rigid a small amount of tidying sorted Still a load of corroded carp to sort yet regards Stephen
  16. More for interest as appose to anything else some pictures of my external fuel fill I did around 28 yrs ago, pictures are upside down but then the tub is upside down at the moment lol Last but not least my 3mm stainless tank, I know how heavy really, but great for putting a high lift under I may have to remake this as upto now I have not tried to fit it but I have a sneaky suspicion my nuke spec trailing arm bracket will be in the way. Time will tell regards Stephen
  17. I find that quite incredible, a testament to your care of the vehicle, astounding !!! Regards Stephen
  18. Thank you I guess because of previous comments about some of my work looking stock ( thank you all ) when completed that that should be the standard in what I try to do, I've always worked fairly quickly also which is not always good, sometimes I should consider the drawing board....lol Regards Stephen
  19. Bit of a challenge this morning Trying to fold non annealed 3mm x 1.5m aluminium. Managed the 1st fold ok, but the second because of the way I had to set it up would not budge Improvisation called for Blank canvas I put Folded piece in folder and tightened down the blade nuts, once tight they gave me a partial bend on the material, I also had to clamp some flat bar along the edge to stop my 1st fold coming off square, at this point I could not budge it at all Cue Improvisation Chain blocks on either side allowed me to make the fold What's it for? This, another piece of tub restoration / modification How grotty is this? Will be sound once this piece is fitted regards Stephen
