  1. A wee bit of mock up with body, seat box and bulkhead, but first some needs must modifications to my battery box because nuke mount in the way passenger side bulkhead outrigger needs to be moved up around 12mm drivers side Passenger side on a more positive note wheel rim modifications look to have paid off, I think this looks OK, will only need to extend rubber wings around 30mm Thoughts regards Stephen
  2. If I extend the tub I will also need to extend the chassis, will need new capping.... Anyway what's wrong with a bobtail lightweight....... Regards Stephen
  3. Not a truer word said @landroversforever.......lol Why would I want to lose 90° departure angle Regards Stephen
  4. Lifted back body on to see what the crack is going to have to remove the crosshatched areas to allow rear axle to articulate engine and box out at the moment so whole thing sitting high at the moment regards Stephen
  5. Some bracing added to single link and painted regards Stephen
  6. I'm kind of half way there.... My good lady often says " your garage my house"........lol Regards Stephen
  7. I hope so, Never gonna touch the little green thing....... My axles and wheels alone will be heavier.....never mind the rest of the nuke fabrication....lol Regards Stephen
  8. I do some sheet metal work, if you have a look at my lightweight vent panel and bulkhead build thread you will see, panel forming with hammers, folders and pressing. I don't have any specific specialist equiment, just the norm, press, hammers, fo!der etc however I do have a decent imagination and this is my most powerful tool, 80% of what you want to do can be achieved with a little out the box thinking, or you tube Hardwood is useful to shape easily and then form your metal around, above all you will need patience as you will almost always not get it right first time although once you are forming acceptable panels it becomes deeply satisfying Any future questions please ask regards Stephen
  9. So the big question is now @Escape is, are you going to keep Tommy the lightweight ?? Regards Stephen
  10. Excellent, the first two photos are good, puts the size of the little green thing into perspective along side Tommy regards Stephen
  11. Couldn't put behind as gearbox mounts and gearbox in the way, I did look at it, you can't see in the photo but k pieces are bent to follow shape of cross member regards Stephen
  12. You do know it's got a tdi in it and not a jet engine, lol it will be a sloth compared to the little green thing which probably jumps very well if desired Regards Stephen
  13. Picked this up from scrappies yesterday for £25, off one of his own water bowsers that tipped in a field and slightly bent the shaft pin made to stop end ovaling when in press now back together ready for a future use regards Stephen
  14. Not at the moment, going to see how it fares, all of it is with 1/4" plate and one section of 10mm plate in the middle, also the cushioning will help relieve stress, everything will be checked very regularily once running simply because of how much work has been done to make things fit regards Stephen
  15. Pretty much, just a case of stripping it all down to paint and put new bolts in etc regards Stephen
  16. I do find it quite amazing that a coat of paint can turn redneck fabrication into looking good and purposeful Oh it is your right to disagree..lol Regards Stephen
  17. @miketomcat I have a 200 head, has the inevitable cracks between valves but areas that are normally pitted are sound, your's FOC it you need it at some point in the future, thought I had two but when I dug them out one is a 300 regards Stephen
  18. Rear suspension brackets completed, bit ironic that painting can take as long as fabricating Regards Stephen
  19. Strong enough trailing arm???? Lol Regards Stephen
  20. Sorted, this is the final position with what @muddy suggested Wheel is 40" off the ground although that will be slightly less once springs back on, it's enough I would say, never had this much before, if it's not, well gas axe and welder will be out Front suspension bottom brackets altered and now getting full range without touching anything sorry about shading on left of pictures camera cover got in the way regards Stephen
