4x4 Pickups rule around here. Most new Defenders appear to be non manual working types but some of those I do see may be being used for business, just not in manual type trades. I used to see a green and white roof one on steels regularly but that appears to have done a bunk now.

The last road test report I have been waiting for landed today, as my subscription copy of Land Rover Monthly, April 2023 arrived. Gary Pusey uses his bit of 'Writers' Rovers" to cover the Scotland junket. There should be a You Tube video, but I could not see it at time of writing, https://www.youtube.com/@landrovermonthly7806/featured
He seemed to like it, after a bit of a wobble about too much electrickery and whining from other hacks about the steering.
Interesting read. Is there a page missing.
19/24 mpg 😳

@Happyoldgitwhat did you think?
I have been accused of being like a little kid, very, very early on Christmas morning! To continue the analogy, it's about 01:50AM and I am not allowed to open presents until 09:00! Every second drags like a year!
I was pleasantly surprised, familiar yet different. I will expand on the experience when I get chance.
Now calm down now, you know what happens when you get overexcited 🤣

Yesterday i was sent my contract to electronically sign. I checked it to my order and it was correct, so I signed it.
I'm told that my vehicle has been built, but is still at Hambach, awaiting a software update, before being sent to my local dealer. So, a little bit nearer.
Your excitement is palpable!
I sat in one yesterday...

There has been a lot of chat on the Facebook groups about it, a few folks are facing a big BIK bill as they had assumed it would be classed as a commercial. While it would appear to be a bit of an own goal for Ineos, it’s only really relevant for the UK market though, and I doubt that will make up a significant proportion of sales.
It’s no bad thing in my view, almost every second vehicle round here is a double cab pickup - lots of which are supplied as company cars and are technically ‘commercials’ so attract minimal tax burden yet get used as family cars with occasionally a few bits chucked in the back. A clampdown on this is probably overdue.
The speed limits thing will be interesting though. In practice it’s pretty rare to find a van doing 50mph on a national speed limit road and the police don’t care, but as speed cameras get more advanced and can check against databases I am sure there will be fines through the post one day.
What's wrong with comfortable pickups being used in such a manner? I can't see a problem myself unless you are really concerned about loss of income to the Exchequer?

You should look around. They don't make older stuff any more. We are discussing new vehicles...
You know full well what I mean.

I don't remember any of my new purchase Puma's rattling ...or leaking come to that. Some of my earlier Defender's were veritable sieves though. Depends what you are used to I guess.

I (and quite a few people I know) am sick to death of all the electronic junk and big brother stuff being endlessly chucked into modern vehicles. If anything, the problem with the Grenadier is that it already has too much of it, not too little! A strong appeal is that it doesn't have all that fluff fitted.
Best stick to older stuff then.

Example I experienced (again) only recently with a 5dr Mini courtesy car whilst my 3dr was being serviced. Seat and wheel in my position meant it was a squeeze between the wheel and the B pillar on the 5dr. Mine is no issue as the door is longer. Someone shorter in the leg but longer in the arm wouldn't have the same issue.
My better half traded in the practical 3 year old Kuga S Line I bought new for her and got a totally impractical (for our location and circumstances) 5 door Cooper S as she had always fancied one. I'm hardly a giant but I struggle to get in the ruddy thing then struggle to get out of it both as passenger and driver. I have encountered more inconsiderate and downright bullying from other drivers than I have in any other vehicle. I wish she would get rid of the damned thing but no, she loves it.
This is not a press review but an off topic brought to you free of charge courtesy of yours truly😁

I have requested my posts are deleted if that's the interpretation.
I have simply tried to offer an objective view about this vehicle and the result that has been achieved.
Your opinions matter and you are entitled to hold them, whether others agree with them or not is totally irrelevant. TBH it's good and healthy to get a cross section of views.

Still looks like a bit Santana like to me, it's a lot of money for a cover band effort.

To make any realistic comparisons you need to go into the configurator - all Grenadier models can have loadspace windows or not - no cost option. The new Defender is a luxury SUV; JLR make most money with the blingy ones and make it difficult to order a basic one.
I've ordered a 5 seat commercial station wagon with expensive paint, a contrast roof, safari windows, hi-volt electrical preparation, soft pack, (leccy mirrors, puddle lights, reversing cam etc) side steps and off road biased tyres, at today's price it will be £67k OTR, (I've got the pre-increase price, so £60,500ish).
Congratulations. I hope you have many years of trouble free motoring ahead of you.- 1

New YouTube video from Hedin, the Swiss dealer; a walk around a production car with a commentary in English.
The angle of the opening shot is not kind to the front end, that bumper is something only its mother could love. Don't tell me there will be upgrades to improve the looks and performance either, the thing is expensive enough out of the box.

That does sound like a good start to the year and a great problem to have.
My year is pretty carp so far.
My best friends wife died on New Year’s Eve, my mums started chemo and radiotherapy, we’ve had a water leak in the cavity wall that’s been literally pouring into the front room, my neighbours waste water drain blocked and all of their waste water flooded our patio at the back - we’ve been 2” deep in white scummy water, works a nightmare and I’m cracking up !
I don’t know if I’m being negative - but it really does seem that **** comes all at once.
There's an old saying that bad luck runs in threes but I tend to think it being more like a prolonged steady flow [no pun intended]. I hope your luck improves very soon!

Very old folks can feel vindicated in lamenting the scrapping of trolley buses and trams along with their infrastructure.

Steering wheel looks standard. If it were a standard XS wheel it would have a sort of mock airbag bulge in the middle. Easy enough to swap those wheel arches for shiny paintable ones [ones on the truck look like the standard matt textured type.
Submit some more posts [20 I think] then you can legitimately advertise the engine for sale in the classifieds on here.

Fortunately the moderators and admins here are rarely required to step in and pass any kind of judgement on content but this seems to be one of the rare occasions when a few polite words are required.
I think as far as this thread goes the tone is now not what is generally considered acceptable on this forum.
While we are happy to grant a bit of leeway to members who are perhaps unaware of the norms here due to the limited time spent on this platform, the current tit for tat needs to stop.
