got all of that allready (except my intercooler is stock size not full width)
and i doubt i could get a good lc for 4k ish??(would do if i could tho)

if you still have the black (dds) box on the pump this is your immobilser
remove it and attach the middle wire direct to the solenoid
also if your car has a spider behind the dash you cant use both to do the same job

hi all
i tow a large (26 foot 1850kg) caravan and wondering is there a better car than my disco for towing?
i ask because on long motorway uphills my disco really struggles (nothing wrong with the disco just 4 tonnes prob needs more than 113bhp!!)
so our love for the green oval aside is there a better suited car for my needs?
also auto would prob be better suited and room for the rotti in the back is a must
o and similar fuel economy would be nice too
ps i cant afford a nice new tdv8 range rover so thats out too
im thinking of something in the 4k area
thanks rob
i have bearmach hd springs all round (standard height) and terrafirma shocks and its spot on
sits very level and dont drop much with a 1800 kg caravan on it yet still rides bumps and pot holes well
all up cost me £250 inc steering damper and hd turret rings and spring retainers

yeah ok my shogun above broke down weekly and as it was a full dealer service history car with only 70k on it i would have expected better
and parts prices are stupid and most are dealer only
ill keep to landys thanks lol
rob
i hope your shogun behaves better than mine did for you
mine was a v6 drank more than oliver reed and parts were scary expensive!!! exhaust front y pipe springs to mind (dealer only and 400 quid )
was comfy tho lol
rob
give btb exhausts a call http://www.btbexhausts.co.uk/
where i used to work we fitted all sorts of engines into lotus elise,s and they made the manifolds and exhausts to enable fitting of hybrid turbo,s and there workmanship was epic!!!
not the cheapest tho
rob
no not all discos are rotten but you do need to look carefully for it
if you only want one for 6 months while the defender chassis swap is being done you will get one that will see you through winter for 700-800 quid easy enough
rob
o and a 200 tdi in a disco is the same just some of the bits bolted to it are different
as a side note to this my d1 started leaking recently from rear sunroof so i stripped out the headlining etc (what a pain with rear ac that with all the extra ducting lol) only to find it was due to the angle of my driveway!!!
as said the sunroofs only have drains at the front and i reverse onto my drive on a downhill slope so the rain channels in lower sunroof panel fill up and overflow before the water is any where near the drain tubes!!!!!!!!
been parking it nose down and problem gone
poor sunroof design i think
rob
mine did this 2 weeks ago exactly the same
i removed the black immobilser box off the back of the fuel pump and directy wired the middle (ign live) wire to the fuel cut off solenoid been tops since
rob
ps mine didnt flash up the immobiliser symbol on the dash either so dont think its 100% that it will if the dds plays up
i asked about this for my disco

seems the solid type aint much worse than the ones with seperate flanges

if you need someone to look at the engine with you im allways bombing around in north oxfordshire and know the l series quiet well as i worked in a rover dealer for 9 years
rob
the engine is the rover l series and its far from common for the headgasket to go on these
oil leaks from everywhere is normal but normally a very reliable old lump
but you can pick up a l series very cheap as was used in the rover 220/420/620 diesel (just make sure you get the one from a intercooled car as the non intercooled ones are way down on power etc as pump and turbo is different) so as long as the rest of the car is in very good nick then it could be worth a punt
