  1. My solution was simple - Glazed front door and slightly psychotic german shepherd / collie cross in the hall whilst we watched telly in the back! Anyone touched the door bell and they got a close up of the hounds larynx!! B) B) Yoofs begone I tell you!
  2. Surely you should be considering Copper O2...? MUCH stronger than either steel or aluminium, especially in automotive applications!! Coat on and running!!!
  3. I'm with JST on this one. Why bother with £200 Optimas when you can get 2 batteries for £80 total outlay? They may not be bling, but they do exactly the same job and if they die you buy another one!. Mine are 2 years old and still absolutely fine. Get down to your nearest motor factor and get two of the biggest batteries that will fit.
  4. Ah, morning chaps... and Turbo charger! Mo, sorry to say I am all out of waffles. Someone else was selling them even cheaper than I was recently on the old place but can't remember who. I'll try and be more help next time!
  5. Ahem!!! errr, he's right actually!! Details Senor 90 ????
  6. Bit like the throttle then!!!!! I know, I know, coat on........
  7. Errr so when're you gonna do that then Will...... I suppose with one less pedal you've got a better chance of hitting the loud one from time to time!! My coat? Why thank you! Oh, and another thing, this time constructive! You might want to think about putting some wire mesh behind those holes in the bonnet to prevent rogue branches getting in? Has anyone had this problem?
  8. Yep, looks good. Inside the glass for me too....
  9. I agree whole heartedly ( although it pains me considerably ) with Mark90. Traders can go jump, but true forumeers who come across a good deal now and then (even if it is more "now" than "then") are welcome. After all, you don't have to buy what's on offer, but you might want to...... if the post is banned then you don't get the choice. The Classified section isn't exactly over run with posts is it? Maybe if it gets that way then we'd have to reconsider. I don't think contributors should be identifiable in any way (and that's not because I haven't got my act together yet and coughed up! ). All that will do is exacerbate any "them and us" feelings that already seem to be materialising IMHO.
  10. I'm sorry, but any mother that relies on hearing alone when preparing to cross the road with a child is a candidate for a Darwin award.
  11. Surely you only need vented / drilled / slotted if you are currently suffering from brake fade. This would normally occur under high speed conditions with a lot of hard braking - which is why Jules rates then so highly. If you are not in to speed events and your brakes perform adequately then stick to what you have. The most I would do would be to upgrade to vented discs. Drilling and slotting is really not necessary IMHO unless you race. Additionally, you will be replacing brake pads far more frequently if you drill / slot. Just my 2p. Oh and to quote Siggy: "Boggy" ROFPMSL
  12. So stand the spare up on its end and it'll fit. It fits like that inside mine.
  13. Jen, PM me an email address and I send you some instructions that I was given. Also, PM fruity as he did the folding of my wings for me and did a damn fine job of it! AND You'll regret 12" - I took off 15" and still caught the ar$e once at Slindon! My original fuel tank is in the back and there is plenty of room for gear and a spare.
  14. But as I am sure he would want to be remembered, here are some quotes unashamedly pinched from the BBC's website: The Two Ronnies: On a packed show tonight, we'll be talking to an out-of-work contortionist who can no longer make ends meet Porridge: What have I learned, Mr Mackay? Three things. One - bide your time. Two - keep your nose clean. And three - don't let the person I'm not that keen on grind you down The Two Ronnies: The man who invented the zip fastener was today honoured with a lifetime peerage. He will now be known as the Lord of the Flies Porridge: Doctor: I want you to fill one of those containers for me. Fletcher: What, from 'ere? Open All Hours: Don't just crit there siticising! The Two Ronnies: The toilets at a local police station have been stolen. Police say they have nothing to go on The Frost Report: I look up to him because he is upper class, but I look down on him because he is lower class The Two Ronnies: The search for the man who terrorizes nudist camps with a bacon slicer goes on. Inspector Lemuel Jones had a tip-off this morning, but hopes to be back on duty tomorrow Porridge: (Playing Monopoly) Would you Adam and Eve it? Go to jail! The Two Ronnies: Ronnie Corbett: There you are, four candles. Ronnie Barker: No, fork 'andles! 'Andles for forks! The Two Ronnies: Ronnie Corbett: So it's good night from me... Ronnie Barker: ...and it's good night from him. Good night! May the great man rest in peace.
  15. Astro – the reason for the node separation is to only have one transverse bar. A short length of tube with a properly designed bolted splice through the roof panel will be plenty strong enough for the moments generated from the eccentricity. In reality the eccentricity is not likely to be more than 100mm I would estimate. If I put the transverse bar internally I would loose the plan triangulation which I think is extremely important. As for software – I drew it in a popular CAD package which isn’t cheap I’m afraid. Mark –I started off with a traditional hoop, but changed it to remove the top horizontal, then modified it to have straight (and therefore stronger) bars from the top node to the chassis rail. The downside to this is that there is less protection for the occupants in a side impact scenario. I’m still debating whether or not to add it back in…..
  16. Well of all people I'm suprised Andy didn't comment on the colour scheme! I suppose being red it didn't even hit the radar! Twas only meant to make it easy to differentiate between in and out. Tsk, some people, I ask you! Mr Beast, where do you think I got my inspiration!
  17. THe MDF way is definately the way to go - you know that on the first test drive young Master MArk will put a ding in the ally wing of it is fitted! With the MDF it will be far stronger.
  18. Spent a bit of time messing around with CAD today.... So who's going to build this for me then... The red bits are internal and the grey bits go on the outside.
  19. You're forgiven....... just this once mind!!!! B)
  20. Scott, If your springs are OK and you're just looking for a lift on a budget then take a look at spring spacers - of course, if your springs are knackered then ignore all that...!
  21. Gelf, This topic has been done to death many times. There is an excellent thread in the tech archive HERE that will answer all yur questions and more.
  22. Yep, come on Jez, give us some inspiration!!
  23. What I meant was that the male spline on the shaft bearing on the female spline of the hub or diff. Due to tollerance the two mating surfaces wont be perfectly parallel and so you will get effectively a line contact rather than a rectangular patch. Obviously over time these "bed in" to develop part of the full rectangle but the stresses will still be high and may cause localised yielding. Just a thought.
