  1. Just for contrast i tried a freelander and hated every second of it. It was not comparable to my 110 in any sense. It even broke down a LOT more.
  2. This ^^^^ I have two now so have one recored on the side as a spare.
  3. Why dont they galvanise these tanks - like the Calor/Flogas bottles you use on the BBQ etc??? Given where they are placed - often under vehicles in the muck and road salt in the winter it would seem sensible?
  4. Great. Thanks for that. The vid I watched online swapped a complete arm in 20 mins - I bet I cant do it that quickly!!
  5. Thanks for having a look Dave, i appreciate it. Do you know if we need to remove the driveshaft from the hub on all D3 models? I saw a video online yesterday that showed you could just unhook the ball joint but other guides suggest it is too tight.
  6. Looking at the videos, I have a fair number of those tools - I habe the SP hydraulic piller they are using and a number of spacers/press tools so hopefully what I have should be suficient
  7. Interesting. I am similar re veg from the supermarket, no used oil at all. BUT, I do run on 100% in the hotter weather. I do also when it is cooler and I know that I will use the tank in one go (not uncommon for me) and then use diesel for small local stop start trips.
  8. Oooo. Your old arms could be handy if you still have them. What bushes were in the arms you used Dave?
  9. What's the tool Gary? I hadnt heard about this before. Most land rover special tools can be improvised in my experience so I wonder if that's true for this one?
  10. It saves a fortune doing it yourself unless you buy genuine bushes when it works out as cheap to buy the arms with them ready fitted. I have sorned the D3 for a month to sort out a few things
  11. Have they checked the suspension properly? I had a weird rear axle steering effect (not always under braking but braking has improved in terms of how straight it brakes since changing it) - changing the rear a fram ball joint and bushes solved it - the ball joint had a lot of play (was probably original - so at 255,000 miles it was probably worn!)
  12. What about power and performance though?? This seemed like night and day for me veg vs diesel with enough time to fill up in between.
  13. There is a knock if you hit the brakes at walking pace - hence planning the job. A lot of folks seem to go for Meyle so I might give these a go.
  14. What bushes were in them^^^^ i dont want to change the whole arm because I have the gear to change the bushes in the current arms. I never hear great things about Polybushes so tend to avoid them
  15. It was just a feel. In the time taken to fill up the 110 lost its ‘spriteliness’! I was on the M5, pulled off at the A358 at Taunton because tge sainsbury there is often 7-10p cheaper per litre than a lot of other supermarkets. Filled up, back on the motorway and it was just a bit more hard work with nowhere near the ease of speed than ten mins before. Filters are all good (nearly new aroubd fhis fill up). No water (I can see this as I have a facet duralift as a lift pump and water would gather in the clear bowl on that if present). ETA - this is more about performance than economy. I have given up worrying about the latter!
  16. Thats the one Phil. By the American diner. A lot of the time its as cheap as the supermarkets at each end of my journey. Its always a lot cheaper than the nearby Esso.
  17. I need to do the bushes on the front lower arms on the D3. Changing the arm seems to be common place but is more money than changing the bushes. I have done bushes on the 110 myself so think I can do it on the D3 fine once the arms are removed. The question is, what bushes as there are a fair number to choose from? Genuine Delphi Meyle Lemforder These seem to be the commonly available ones - any preferences? Lemforder are the cheapest, Delphi and Meyle are not too expensive, genuine are a fair bit of money and in this instance only, it might work out cheaper to buy the arms with the bushes pre-fitted
  18. This thread wasnt necessarily aimed at supermarket fuel by the way, it was the real difference to svo that suprised me.
  19. So I wonder how it would seem if I filled up with esso or bp? Might give it a go. Theres a relativley cheap texaco on the a303 I might try as I pass it twice a week if I am not using the M4
  20. It may be Neil. DieselBob did say he had adjusted it for slightly better performance. He knew I run on veg but didnt say it would affect running on diesel. This occasion wasnt the first time i have noticed this. I guess any seller of fuel could have a bad batch??
  21. I did wonder if it could be the diesel - every time I float that thought though, folks tell me it cant be! I might try a tank from somewhere else next time and see. It was just weird though - I was ticking along on a high % SVO mix, quite easily able to go from 70-80 to overtake on the motorway, pulled off, filled up so was close to 100% diesel and it was an effort to get to 70 after that. 100 miles later I finished that bit of the journey, put 30 litres of veg in and back to being fine again.
  22. Is my 200tdi addicted to SVO? It runs better, more power, more poke across the range on SVO or SVO mixes than it does on 100% diesel. I had to fill up at Sainsburies (with diesel) the other day and wondered where all the grunt had gone. The pump and injectors have all been overhauled and its spoilt with how often its serviced and maintained!
