  1. After that, I am out of ideas. That unit has had two new sets of springs but I guess they may be faulty. Its a shame noone knows anyone at gkn who could locate the specs of the originals.
  2. Put the springs from your original OD on this one as yours wasnt slipping?
  3. They dont do any of the defender specific parts (I have asked them before). The triumph/volvo versions of these overdrives dont have the transfer plate arrangement that we use. Although I wonder what size that rear flange seal is on their page...
  4. 200 standard boost is 0.8bar isnt it? Mines set to hit 1bar at 70mph with the OD engaged. It will boost to 1.4 if I push it but seemed sensible to have it at 1 where it sits a lot of the time.
  5. I have bought a cheap chinese kit for mine - i just wanted a new intake pipe for it. The Chinese kit was less than a genuine intake pipe and it is fine. It came with a filter that is a waste of space (but I was not running a filter in the first place so didnt mind) and a silencer that may do something when I fit it!
  6. I need two of these seals for my GKN overdrive: https://www.devon4x4.com/overdrive-radial-seal-heavy-duty.html I simply cannot believe they should be priced at £20 each!! I think I have two that I bought previously when they were closer to £7 each. How easy should it be to get some to match and where should I go to find them? I have never come across a 'seal stockist' so am not sure where to start looking!
  7. Do you check the transfer box oil when you check the OD? If you get the levels in the transferbox and OD correct, then check again after using them both, if the transfer box is overflowing from the filler hole, I think that gives you an answer? Otherwise, unless there is an external leak (which I am sure you will notice) there is nowhere else for the oil to go. Unless its overfilled, the OD wont chuck oil out of the breather in my experience. Mine has been losing oil to the transferbox recently - its minimal and because of time I just top it up, but the other week, the OD was overflowing as it seems to have started drawing oil from the transferbox. I will take it all off over Christmas and replace the two face:face seals and the orange sealed bearing and it should all be fine again for another 100k miles.
  8. Thats what it is IMO. The seals between the transferbox and the overdrive dont last forever. The dissapearing oil you refer to above is transfer from one to the other. Eventually the OD sucks oil from the transferbox and when it is over-full and has EP90 in it, it does two things - spits it out of the breather hole and doesnt disengage properly. Mine needs the seals doing currently.
  9. I dont think that HDC on the d2 was working was it?
  10. Thanks - its as i suspected. If i ever get around to fitting a twin tank system it will be fine, but currently I just make sure I have had a few tanks of diesel only run through in the colder weather before switching it on as I change from SVO/SVO+diesel mixes to 100% diesel as the days get colder anyway.
  11. I agree with the comment about how good these are - my D1LC is brilliant. I just have a switch on mine but would like to fit a timer if I ever get round to it. It will defrost the car quickly on icy mornings. Is a nice additional heatsource when it gets really cold and means I can leave the dogs in the car nice and warm even in the coldest weather (yes, I am soft on them!)
  12. Interested in the replies here. If my turbo ever gives up I was thinking about trying one of the uprated cores but dont know how good they are. I think someone did a review on them a year or so ago on here and they were impressed with theirs.
  13. Hope this isnt a thread hijack, but I have a D1LC. How sensitive are these eberspacher units to veg oil? I usually dont turn mine on until I have run a few full tanks of diesel through in the colder months, but will the tolerate a little (or a lot) of veg oil??
  14. I agree. Mine is working, so I am leaving it alone!
  15. I am no expert, but i suspect the plastic will have become brittle and perhaps the improved airflow due to the EGRs closing properly has found the weak spots?
  16. Its the EGR I think as you say. This is documented with the D3 - valve sticks open and it runs on hot exhaust gases only. You have already fixed the cause.
  17. When you are saying brake cone, do you mean the cone clutch or the brake ring? That clutch was brand new.
  18. He was involved in the design of the discovery 3... he loves that car.... - oh, that's funny, the new 'defender' looks like a discovery 3! He has been a land rover lover for life but cant tell the difference between a defender and a series 3 🙄 Windscreen - not seen the new 'defender' but it looks exactly the same as the D3 in front of me.... I whizzed through the 'the door opens and has hinges' section and the 'accessories' bit to the 'tool that's cool' I wonder if he thinks he is a cool tool?..... Anyway. Guess my opinion is invalid as I cant afford one anyway.
  19. Those springs won't fit the 200tdi or earlier pressed type pedals. I changed my pedal box to a TD5 variant (i think) so I could use one of these types of spring - i dont have the LOF one.
  20. From their website: The LOF POWERspring will fit Defender models 300TDI, TD5 and also TDCI PUMA vehicles.
  21. I'm curious. Are there options for the Salisbury axle?
  22. Its had two different sets of wiring tried on it at least so I don't think it can be this.
  23. I cant think how as you would have to put a central fork in to move the clutch, but both sides of the clutch have a function so the fork would get in the way. You would also have to seal the pivot as the whole thing is bathed in oil.
