  1. Is it my imagination or is it only 2 wheel drive. Pete.
  2. The Pot is in the pivot area of the throttle pedal assembly. Pete.
  3. They could be hydraulic Hat,coat, outta here. Pete.
  4. When I fitted some Cobra bucket seats to my old 90 I made an 8mm (i think) thick aluminium plate that was wide enough to pick up on the seat runner mountings on the seat box and then using counter sunk bolts from underneath the plate picked up the runner mountings in the bottom of the seat. This did require a bit of a fiddle to get to the back bolts holding the plate down but it was do-able and if you fit a charching socket to the front of the seatbox you don't need to get to the batteries all that often anyway. Sorry no photo's was about 10 years ago when I had the 90. Pete
  5. Cheers folks, Sounds as like i shall be taking a trip to B&Q at the weekend then. will try and take some piccies as I go and maybe do a write up. Orgasmic farmer pictures would be good. Cheers Pete.
  6. Looking into making a snorkel for the Discovery. I am intending to use plastic gutter downpipe from somewhere like B&Q as it's cheap, however my local B&Q only has downpipe that is 68mm OD which makes the ID somewhere around 65mm because of the wall thickness. I only intend to use a bit long enough to go up the windscreen pillar so about about 700mm long. My concern is that the diameter of the tube is to small and will prove to be restrictive and as it's a standard 300 TDi Auto the last thing I want to do is strangle the thing. So basically do you think that the tube diameter is to small and secondly is it possible to get larger diameter gutter downpipe? Cheers in advance, Pete.
  7. for my findings of doing this see this topic:- clicky I had removed the EGR and cleaned the inlet tract out about 6 months ago. Pete.
  8. pretty certain that the engine ecu is behind the driverside kick panel on a 300TDi Auto. HTH Pete.
  9. As stated I in the 300 TDi downpipe removal topic I linked to above, The ESR2297 downpipe is the one I used when I replaced my CAT downpipe, If anything I found that the overall length of the system was slightly longer using the defender downpipe. I ordered my from paddocks using that part number. HTH Pete. (P.S White90 only put the topic in to the archive)
  10. Another vote for Fluke and Isotech, have had/got both brands and never given any major problems despite some serious abuse although the continuity buzzer on one Isotech decided to work all the time after the meter became accidently submerged. the rest of the meter still worked it just beeped all the time when switched on for about three months afterwards. I also like the old AVO8 (haven't got one though) not very easy to use on anything but a bench though. Pete
  11. As budgie says gold thing on bulkhead behind washer bottle. Pete
  12. Update: Having done a further 700miles since changing the downpipe I definately think it has made some difference to the overall performance of my truck. Nothing major has changed but it definately feels a little stronger and I definately don't have to work it as hard to maintain speed on motorway's, this has also led to a small reduction in fuel usage maybe only 1 or 2 mpg but it still is going further to the gallon. So definately worth doing in my opinion. Pete.
  13. Or Indeed this thread. 300 TDi cat removal HTH Pete.
  14. Think Automotive also do silicone hoses:- 76mm 90o seems to be £14.18 + vat. Think automotive. HTH Pete.
  15. Yet another vote for not fixing what ain't broke. Pete
  16. Having now done a couple of hundred miles since changing the downpipe on the truck, I can report back that, apart from saving 200 odd quid over the correct CAT downpipe, There doesn't seem to be a huge benefit from fitting a defender downpipe. I can't say that I can notice a huge difference in the performance although the turbo does seem to spool up a little quicker. Equally she doesn't seem to be smoking anymore than normal so the MOT shouldn't be a problem. Having an auto may however be masking some of the gains if any were made. I would still say that it is something I would do again as the financial saving is worth it IMHO. I will be doing somewhere in the region of 1000 miles over the christmas period including the play day at Broxhead so I will give more feed back on fuel usage etc in the new year. HTH Pete.
  17. Cheers Tonk, I am going to get one from demon tweeks but wanted to confirm the thread size before I ordered one. Pete.
  18. Thanks, I may just get a boss brazed in to the sump for the sender in that case, however I could still use the thread size for the oil light pressure switch so that I can get an adapter. Pete.
  19. As above can anyone tell me what the thread size and pitch are for the oil pressure switch and sump plug on a 300 TDi. I want to put a oil pressure gauge and a oil temp gauge on my truck and I want to get an adapter for the pressure switch to allow me to run both and I want to replace the sump plug with a temp sender for the oil temp. Thanks in advance, Pete.
  20. IIRC they are not usually expensive and it would help eliminate a part of the system. Pete.
  21. Hello all, Being bored yesterday I took a hacksaw to the CAT that I removed from my 300TDi at the weekend. I was suprised as to how clear the mesh looks as IFAIK it's the original for the vehicle and has done about 130,000 miles. The mesh has a quite tight weave and there seem to be several layers in the can so I can see that it will cause some restriction to exhaust gas flow even if it was completely clean. not the best quality pictures but the camera was struggling to decide what to focus on. not all that interesting I guess. Pete.
  22. The temp sensor shouldn't really be effected by the thermostat IMHO. What can happen is it stops working correctly and thinks that the engine is cold all the time and thus causes to the ECU to overfuel the engine when it warms up causing the bad running. this will IIRC be a seperate sensor to the one for the temp gauge (so the dash gauge will still read correctly.) I can't tell you where the sensor's will be as I have A diesel not a V8. HTH Pete.
  23. BigSi110, Broxhead common is near Bordon in hampshire. Map:- Bordon HTH Pete.
