  1. Try pulling or pushing at the same time as you operate the switch. If it always gets stuck in the same place one or two teeth are probably worn on the regulator assembly. The motor's driver screw is normally okay and harder material than the teeth. Might be that the whole toothed assembly's welds have broken. Quite common apparently but my guess is the former. Best to replace with new one either way imho. If you're very clever and can repair - there is a good article on this forum somewhere by a very capable person and it shows how to repairfailed welds but I'd chuck the old one and then you know where you stand. 2. If there is no mechanical fault and it is still freezing solid......what I always do is, the night before it freezes again, use the thin tube that comes with a can of WD40 and squirt that into all exterior locks on trucks, cars and house. If there's water in there it will be flushed out- if there's WD40 inside there won't be moisture - if there's no moisture it won't freeze! HTH
  3. I've got a 5 lt bottle of Parazene (parrafin) (as recommended elsewhere on this forum) sitting on my workbench for a month now waiting for me get the digit out a clean it up. By all accounts it will need a good soaking before you'll move the treacle tar inside. Worth doing the inlet manifold too but you'll need some of the easily available gaskets before you start. Intercooler easy job. Search in Discovery Forum for egr+marmite
  4. Do a search on Google..... These 3 come to mind for starters: http://www.neneoverland.co.uk/4x4landroverdiscovery/useddiscovery.php http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/SALES/ http://www.oakleaf.net/left-hand-drive/Land-Rover/Discovery-3/351
  5. Yes you could when I last bought. You used to be able to pick up a code from SimonR's profile to use on the X- Engineering site to get a discount. Last I found it doesn't work with new Forum Software so it's best to PM him or ring him at work (website) and mention forum membership and yer 'Handle'!
  6. Seconded - the suggestion of 'All Wheel Trim' - great bunch there! Ask for Kim Johnson
  7. As per 'Mel' - I can definitely recommend you speak to Kim Johnson at All Wheel Trim - Good bunch there!
  8. Aaah! - so that's why that happened!! Hit a massive rut last year, everything cut out with just flashers blinking- ign off and on sorted it at the time thankfully . Good on you for asking that one Niamh
  9. A very interesting read today and I for one will be using the info soon on mine. An excellent technical (how-I-did-it) report. Well done and thank you "Part1cle"
  10. Hello Norm and welcome. I've found the forum very friendly, helpfull and really informative. Don't know much but help out where I think I can. I'm texting from Deepest Darkest Mid Wales - not yet a local but working on it and the Wagon! Ditto on the Disco by the way - the Defender's not running yet!! PaulN
  11. If she's a diesel - have you checked the glow plugs?
  12. Ibexman......and if you do go please let me, and most likely a good number of others (watching), know how it goes!! / what you think Ta, PaulN
  13. it would pay to put some large flat washers on the bolts for extra support. Thanks 'maxtherotti' and a good tip!
  14. Yep! - it is down on the window support nice and square so - as it appears to be going up and down reasonably ok (then I'm happy. Thanks for the reassurance guys
  15. Yes, there is flexing of the inner panel that the regulator is screwed to - when the motor is under 's drive stress
  16. Hi all, Just replaced the drivers side window regulator of my Disco Job seemed to go okay but I was expecting some sort of final squaring up adjustment before tightening up all bolts but there doesn't seem to be any From your collective experiences is there any adjustment possible to get the best, smooth operation of glass in channel/frame? The motor seems to bend the webbing metal that it's attached to as it shunts the window up and down which also suggests that it might be working too hard?
  17. AS above! I've fitted Monroe gas shocks to my Disco (Std Height - all 4 corners) and really pleased with handling improvement.. Pick a make and shop around for the best deal. I got mine in the end from a local motor factors and quoted the internet prices for them to match. Keep an eye on the forum for sale area too. I agree with you point about the search facility!
  18. Nice story and nice truck.! Feels like more of an adventure somehow in one of those...... Love the neat steps too!
  19. Well done you! All that time and effort has paid off - now you can begin to enjoy The thing is - can you stop it!!! It's nice to read a bit of good news and feedback
  20. Thanks for the advice guys - I'll do some more research based on your leads and then get my head round the selling bit That Interparcel interface looks pretty slik - looks like I might start with them then
  21. What's the Forum's experience with Couriers for sending biggish LR stuff? Does anyone know the best and most helpful Couriers when selling biggish LR bits from deepest darkest Wales? There is a tie up between 'Ebay' and 'ParcelForce' but I was thinking more of the 'Direct' Forum sales when I'm ready to sell my bits. When you've identified a 'best mover of your LR stuff' I suppose all you have to do is to have a description, largest overall size and weight - is that right? Any experiences would be welcome.
  22. It appears that there is not much love abound in here for them that's called 'Main Stealers' - I'm one of those cynical b*****rs too! For whatever mark of vehicle one has at the time there is a problem, and your in deep plop, you will encounter a generally a lack of empathy or enthusiasm to do anything properly for you except to make a strong case to take as much of your hard earned cash as possible. However just occasionally the is a real gem of a person that is worth his or her weight in gold beavering within the annals of some of these places. It's all down to the individual at the end of the day and (good on you for reporting it) - you seem to have found a couple. There ought to be a system whereby one could report these few to the relevant Authorities as and when they're found -- so they can get a free start up grant and begin life anew as Independents on their own terms!!! Well done again for giving some good news its due feedback.
  23. or this one link where I got mine!
  24. I've got mine off the Defender at the mo and whilst it's probably home made at some point in time and so not the same as the one in the photo - it may help.... 210mmm from back plate to tip and 155mm to start of thread. I'm removing bulkhead but before it held a 235/85/R16 really well to the back of the bulkhead. Going to see if I can't get a rear wheel carrier when the soft-top is done! P.

I reckon the stuff is brilliant too. Done both the Def and the Disco but.... Has anyone noticed that the fomulation change? It certainly has changed colour - more reddy orange than creamy yellow and we noticed, when we did my mates car by brush (in the garage cos it were raining!) that it thins down quicker when using white spirit!
