  1. something like what ff said would e ideal, if the force and stroke is correct of course. and cheap, otherwise trawl around a breakers yard. theyre bound to have something.
  2. ive just got meself another series 3. this time its a 2.25 petrol. and it IS going to end up on the road im 17 in march so i reckon ill be on the road by mid may (late may at the latest) and intend to have it done by then. but im at college 5 days a week and i work at the weekends, itll be late nights and early mornings in the workshop its a 88" truck cab with a 3/4 tilt by the way . im sure ill be on the forum asking more questions along the way. and will be thoruoghly reading some of the posts already/ like megasquirting a 2.25 pictures dont seem to be working

  4. i never did anything to meh 110 or old series 3, but my series 3 i got now im thionking of putting rubber pads on the pedals.
  5. i got quite a lot halfords advanced pro, good tools int they. made by bluepoint (snapon) so there basically the cheap cheap snapon, my boss has had his set from there for 10 years. mine are nearly spankers new so i still have to test them but so far so good . i suppose it would match most of my tools and my chest
  6. hi, and thanks, but britool are still quite expensive, im looking at around £30-£50. just a manual non didital one. it wont get used overly often being as i work on tractors and land rovers mostly, ill just use it for stuff like cylinder heads etc.
  7. okay, what torque range would i need to get in a torque wrench, mainly working on land rovers, preferably 1/2" drive, can be 3/8" but i do work on tractors aswell and small cars. also, any reccomedations? i had a quick look at the Clarke CHT141 ranges from 28-210nm and it 1/2" drive, also comes with 3/8"stepdown. but the price worries me. its £20, is that too cheap?
  8. go for gwyn lewis and a 2" will be perfecty adequate and any more needs all sorts of stuff doin to it
  9. hi, sorry O/T but. barmy brumie, nice 90 iin yur dp. my mate owns A90 JVC. oldest land rover 90 still on the road today. it looks the exact same as that, what reg is it?
  10. thanks, how much are the outriggers you rekcon? and the tank ill probs be able to et one second hand for next to nufink
  11. Hi guys, not posted in a while. im looking at buying this quite tidy 2.25n/a petrol 88" series 3. suffix T reg. first off, it needs a new outrigger (holding fuel tank up in front of rear O/S wheel)rest of chassis is good, rear xmember is exeptional, bulkhead passable either a hard top or a TC, havent decided yet (been offered choice as part of the deal. okay first question, the clutch aparently slips, what is the quickest way to get at it? ive had a S3 gearbox out before, in my old field one. got it out through the floor/seatbox area. is there a quiker way to get at the clutch? engine out? drop g-box down? i dont mind cutting off bottom xmember to lower g-box. but it does have to pass MOT. second question, has been stood about a year. ive looked at the engine a few bits missing but will be included as part of the deal. needs new dizzy, HT leads, dont know aout fuel line. imgoing back to look at it on tuesday sometime so im going to have a proper inspect with dad. is there anything else i should look for? ta, mikey
  12. lol i have insa saharas, and teyre grippy, but also fun. you lot tried drifting this year i have
  13. ouch!!! not good. looks serious. ope all goes well/smoothly with the fixing
  14. how do you keep your vehicle at said 2000rpm when inflating tyres? you put a hand throttle on it or something?
  15. diff, does your compressor get hot? and if so how hot. and what was the name and make of the grease you used? and am i right in thinking that my 200TDI disco's a/c pump will be a sanden? does it say so on it anywhere? mehari, maybe you used a thicker grease or a lower temperature grease or lower quality grease? ta
  16. oh and of course ill ad dthe appropriate fuse
  17. update, ive checked the size, its not 17amp so i am going to stick a relay in there. stole the power source from a different broken application which eliminates the need for rewiring. the wires are the correct size so now all i need is the relay because i have the relay power source, the relay earth the beacon power source. all ill have to wire in is the output from the relay and the earth wire, eaisly done and very short distiances. thnks for the help guys!
  18. thats why i ran it past you lot. ill check the wiring sizes.
  19. heres my thoughts, as from the factory it can be fitted with either dual or single(standard) it should have the wiring, at least up to the switch big enough to cope with duals, unless they install a relay, but then i have to route another live through the bonnet, cab pillar etc. so if the wiring can cope with it up to the switch, provided the switch can cope (carling) i should be able to run the second live straight from that shouldnt i?
  20. a bit off topic, but im going to wire a second beacon up to my vehicle, and i was wandering if the existing wiring will stand up to adding a second beacon, in paralell to the first beacon. i thought it should because headlights and spotlights are wired in paralell, and the bulbs arent as high power in beacons, but they have the motors aswell, and i dont want to start a cab fire! cheers
  21. got it, theyre both 0.20mm aparently
  22. ive done a search, and cant find the answer, but what is the right gaps for my rockers on my disco 200tdi? i need to do the tappets, as i suspect it has not been adjusted for well over 2-3 years and is usually something that can be overlooked nowadays. so what are the inlet and exhaust gaps? thanks
  23. i would reccomend a perkins v8 engine or something, as they generally tend to put out more bhp per litre than the american engines, but then being a tractor engine, you dont get the RPM that you would with a truck or wagon engine. tractors when opened up only do around 2500-2800 (perkins) not sure on NH, JD, IH case etc but the JD 6 pot 6 litre put out 130bhp non turbo'd, and the perkins 5.987 or something, with a snail on can put out over 165bhp. again at low revs and very high torque spikes, bye bye halfshafts.
  24. try a powerstroke diesel v8, youtube it like your thinking btw ora scania v8
